$3,000 ($1,000/year not to exceed 3 years); paid out of Read Act Literacy Aid Reports to: Building Principal in collaboration with Skye Hoekstra & Caitlyn Willis Position Overview The Building Literacy Lead (BLL) will serve as a key support in the successful implementation of the Science of Reading practices and the onboarding of new literacy curriculum (Elementary) within their assigned school. This role will ensure that all educators receive the necessary guidance, resources, and professional development to align instructional practices with evidence-based literacy strategies. The BLL will act as a liaison between the district and their principal and school staff, providing leadership and support to ensure consistency and effectiveness in literacy instruction. Responsibilities Implementation Support Support the integration of a new literacy practices, ensuring alignment with district and state standards. Support implementation of screening to intervention Read Act mandate (secondary). Assist teachers in implementing research-based literacy practices within their classrooms. Professional Development & Coaching Provide ongoing professional learning opportunities, supported by the district. May conduct model lessons and co-teaching experiences to support effective literacy instruction. Support professional learning communities (PLCs) focused on literacy strategies and curriculum implementation. Collaboration & Communication Serve as the primary point of contact between the school leadership and the District Literacy Lead. Facilitate conversations with grade-level teams to discuss literacy data, challenges, and successes. Share district updates, resources, and best practices with their principal and collaborate on training and implementation with school staff. Data Analysis & Progress Monitoring Assist teachers in analyzing student literacy data to inform instructional decisions. Monitor the effectiveness of literacy interventions and suggest adjustments as needed. Contribute to school-wide literacy initiatives and assessments to track progress and outcomes. Qualifications Certified educator with a strong background in literacy instruction. Read Act Certified (elementary) and ELA background (secondary) Strong leadership, coaching, and facilitation skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with educators at various levels. Experience analyzing and utilizing literacy data to drive instruction. Commitment & Stipend The Building Literacy Lead will serve in this role for a period of three years. A stipend of $3,000 will be provided over the three-year term; $1,000 per year paid in one lump sum at the end of each of the school years not to exceed 3 consecutive years. The BLL will be expected to engage in regular professional development and district-led meetings to ensure alignment with district literacy initiatives. By establishing a Building Literacy Lead in each school, the district ensures a cohesive and well-supported implementation of high-quality literacy instruction, ultimately leading to improved student outcomes.
