Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and experienced Public Works Maintenance Lead to oversee and coordinate maintenance activities across municipal infrastructure projects, as well as maintaining sewer operations. This role involves supervising a team of skilled workers, operating heavy equipment, and ensuring all work complies with safety standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction, road maintenance, and heavy equipment operation, with a passion for maintaining and improving public infrastructure and knowledge of WWTP daily operations. Responsibilities Supervise daily maintenance operations on public works projects, including road repairs, paving, and utility installations Operate and oversee the use of heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, dump trucks, front loader trucks, and paving machinery to complete construction tasks efficiently Ensure all work adheres to safety protocols, including traffic control for work zones and compliance with FMCSA regulations for commercial truck driving Coordinate with team members to perform mechanical repairs, welding, utility locating, and routine inspections on equipment and tools Lead traffic management efforts during construction activities to ensure public safety and smooth flow of traffic in work zones Maintain detailed records of project progress, safety incidents, equipment maintenance, and material usage Provide training and mentorship to crew members on proper equipment operation, safety procedures, and construction best practices Maintain daily operations at the WWTP, Sewer Repairs and inspections, and ensure monthly and quarterly sampling is completed Skills Extensive experience operating heavy machinery such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, dump trucks, and front loader trucks Strong knowledge of construction processes related to road construction, highway maintenance, paving, and utility installation in civil infrastructure projects Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic repairs on power tools and heavy equipment like Caterpillar machinery Familiarity with FMCSA regulations for commercial truck drivers and safety standards for outdoor construction work Skilled in traffic control setup for work zones to ensure worker safety and public awareness Ability to handle manual labor tasks involving heavy lifting and the use of hand tools safely and effectively Proven experience working on municipal or public works construction sites within a civil infrastructure role Knowledge of welding techniques and utility locating methods is preferred Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in recordkeeping and project documentation Operator certification class C is preferred but not required Wastewater knowledge and experience are required Join us as a Public Works Maintenance Lead where your expertise will directly impact community infrastructure. Pay:
$52,500.00 - $72,800.00 per year
