Reports to Maintenance Manager and maintains liaison between Operations and Maintenance. Through supervision of the Maintenance Administrator, the planner is also responsible for maintenance of records and files essential to meaningful analysis and reporting of maintenance-related matters.

Updated 08/24/2026 Job Description Job Summary Position Summary The Maintenance Planner is responsible to the Maintenance Manager. He/She shall schedule workflow, establish the required labor, manage the work processes, track project performance, direct the planning and production control staff, maintain a record of events impacting the project and co-ordinate all activities to maximize the project efficiency. He/ She shall be responsible for maintaining and coordinating aircraft maintenance work packages within the Quantum Maintenance Information System to support scheduled and unscheduled maintenance events. This position serves as the central planning resource by ensuring maintenance packages, regulatory requirements, technical documentation, and project status remain accurate throughout the maintenance lifecycle. The Maintenance Planner collaborates daily with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, Technical Records, Supply Chain, and Customer Support to coordinate maintenance activities, monitor project progress, and ensure work packages are complete and production ready. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintenance Planning Generate, develop, and maintain aircraft maintenance work packages using the Quantum Maintenance Information System. Review customer work scopes and maintenance requirements to build complete maintenance packages. Research and incorporate applicable maintenance manuals, Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPC), Structural Repair Manuals (SRM), Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM), Engineering Orders, Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, and customer requirements. Ensure all work packages contain current revisions and required technical documentation. Sequence maintenance tasks to maximize production efficiency and minimize downtime. Coordinate planned maintenance requirements prior to aircraft induction. Project Coordination Maintain real-time project status within Quantum throughout the maintenance event. Update maintenance milestones, planning notes, work package status, and project completion metrics. Track and validate maintenance progress and adjust planning activities to support production schedules. Monitor open work packages, non-routine cards, engineering requests, and deferred maintenance items. Coordinate planning changes or deviations resulting from additional findings or customer requests. Communicate project status and planning updates to Production, Maintenance Management, and other stakeholders. Assist with aircraft induction and maintenance scheduling activities. Documentation & Regulatory Compliance Ensure maintenance documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with FAA regulations and company procedures. Verify work packages include all required maintenance instructions, references, forms, and supporting documentation. Support documentation revisions resulting from engineering changes or customer requests. Coordinate with Technical Records to ensure maintenance documentation is properly controlled. Maintain document integrity within the maintenance planning system. Cross-Functional Coordination Coordinate daily with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Technical Records, Supply Chain, and Customer Support. Identify planning conflicts and coordinate timely resolutions. Support workload balance between departments. Coordinate required tooling, materials, parts availability, and technical documentation. Assist in resolving planning issues that could impact aircraft delivery schedules. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve maintenance planning processes. Recommend workflow improvements that increase efficiency and reduce downtime. Assist in developing standardized planning procedures and templates. Participate in Safety Management System (SMS) initiatives and quality improvement activities. Support implementation of new planning processes and technology. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the English Language. Associate degree in Aviation Maintenance is preferred but not required. Three (3) or more years of aircraft maintenance planning, production planning, or maintenance coordination experience. Experience supporting a Part 145 Repair Station preferred. Experience generating aircraft maintenance work packages. Experience in using the Quantum Maintenance Information System or similar computerized maintenance planning software preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong aircraft maintenance planning knowledge. Excellent organizational and project coordination skills. Ability to independently manage multiple aircraft maintenance projects simultaneously. Strong attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision. Ability to prioritize competing maintenance schedules and deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret aircraft technical manuals and engineering documentation. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to coordinate effectively with multiple departments across different locations. Ability to maintain accurate electronic documentation and project records. Preferred Qualifications Experience planning heavy maintenance visits, modifications, storage programs, or return-to-service projects and all associated documentation. Experience supporting Boeing and Airbus aircraft maintenance programs. Experience supporting customer maintenance planning. Knowledge of FAA Safety Management Systems (SMS).
