Job Description

About us Montana Crane Service is seeking an experienced mechanic to manage and work side by side with other mechanics, welders, and laborers to maintain and repair our fleet of cranes, forklifts, trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment. This is a small company and individuals wear many hats and work side by side with other positions to ensure success of the business. As a mechanic, this individual will primarily provide oversight and hands on assistance to less experienced mechanics on diagnostics and repairs. As a manager, this individual will be responsible for all aspects of preparing for and overseeing completion of work orders, including coordination with dispatch, review of daily inspection reports, ordering parts/maintaining parts inventory, and entering post-completion data. The best applicant for this position would want to lead by example, working alongside mechanics in the shop performing hands-on repairs and assisting with larger projects as time allows, in addition to overseeing the shop and employees. Applicants are expected to meet the following criteria:
  • Experience with various mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems associated with heavy trucks and equipment
  • At least 23 years of age, per commercial insurance requirements
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record (no major violations in last 3 years), preference given to CDL holders
  • Adherence to company drug and alcohol policy
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Familiar with various computer systems and software, including Windows and MS Office, bonus points if familiar with Fleet Maintenance Pro
  • Adaptable and eager to learn new systems and software programs
