Foam Pour Line Maintenance Manager VPC Group Inc. - Asheboro, NC VPC Group Inc. is seeking an experienced Foam Pour Line Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance operations for our flexible slab polyurethane foam manufacturing operation in Asheboro, NC. Previous hands-on maintenance experience with flexible polyurethane foam pour-line equipment is required for this position. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands the unique equipment and maintenance requirements of polyurethane foam production. The Maintenance Manager will lead and develop the maintenance team while remaining actively involved on the plant floor troubleshooting equipment, responding to breakdowns, improving preventive maintenance, and driving equipment reliability. The position is responsible for reducing downtime, supporting production throughput, improving equipment reliability, and ensuring maintenance activities are performed safely and effectively. What You'll Do Lead, develop, and provide daily direction to the maintenance team. Maintain a strong presence on the production floor and work hands-on alongside the maintenance team when needed. Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain flexible polyurethane foam pour-line equipment and supporting systems . Troubleshoot and maintain metering pump systems, chemical transfer and dispensing systems, mix-head equipment, conveyors, conveyor systems, cut-off saws, and downstream production equipment. Inspect and maintain metering systems, seals, valves, couplings, filters, pumps, and related components to prevent chemical blockage and equipment failure. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, PLC, VFD, pneumatic, hydraulic, conveyor, and automated production equipment. Diagnose equipment failures during production and coordinate rapid, safe repairs to minimize downtime. Plan, develop, and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Evaluate existing preventive maintenance procedures and develop or modify PMs based on equipment history, failure trends, and production needs. Use CMMS to schedule, track, document, and improve maintenance activities and performance. Identify root causes of recurring equipment failures and implement permanent corrective actions. Drive initiatives to reduce equipment downtime, scrap, and maintenance costs while increasing equipment reliability and production throughput. Ensure equipment is properly maintained and ready for production start-ups. Oversee equipment installations, modifications, repairs, commissioning, and decommissioning. Manage maintenance projects from planning through successful completion. Maintain motors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, drives, conveyors, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, and other production equipment. Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical diagrams, schematics, equipment manuals, and engineering specifications. Oversee equipment alignment, adjustment, fabrication, welding, machining, and modification activities as needed. Maintain an organized maintenance shop, fabrication area, and critical spare-parts inventory. Manage maintenance inventory and coordinate with vendors, contractors, and equipment suppliers. Monitor maintenance KPIs and equipment performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure equipment issues and outstanding repairs are effectively communicated across shifts. Partner closely with production leadership to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and support production goals. Support Lean manufacturing and other continuous-improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, company safety policies, LOTO procedures, hazardous-material handling requirements, and applicable environmental and safety regulations. Ensure chemical residues and materials associated with polyurethane foam production are handled appropriately. Support facility and grounds maintenance as required. Required Experience Hands-on maintenance experience with flexible slab polyurethane foam pour-line equipment is required. 3+ years of maintenance management, supervisory, or maintenance team leadership experience. 5+ years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience. Strong understanding of polyurethane foam pour-line equipment and associated production systems. Experience maintaining and troubleshooting metering pumps, chemical transfer/dispensing systems, mix-head equipment, conveyors, and related foam-production equipment . Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills. Industrial electrical troubleshooting experience. Experience troubleshooting PLCs and VFDs. Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Experience with motors, pumps, bearings, gearboxes, drives, conveyors, and automated production equipment. Experience developing and managing preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Experience using a CMMS. Strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, blueprints, equipment manuals, and technical documentation. Working knowledge of LOTO, hazardous-material handling, industrial electrical, and manufacturing safety requirements. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to critical production issues. Ability and willingness to work hands-on alongside maintenance employees. Flexibility to work different shifts, weekends, or overtime when required for major projects, production start-ups, or critical equipment issues. Additional Experience That Is a Plus Experience with flexible slab polyurethane foam production beyond maintenance responsibilities. PLC programming and industrial automation experience. Welding, machining, and fabrication experience. Experience with continuous-process manufacturing equipment. Forklift and scissor-lift training or certification. Confined-space and working-at-heights training. Fire alarm system experience. The Person We're Looking For We're looking for more than someone who can manage a maintenance department or maintenance schedule. We need someone who knows polyurethane foam pour-line equipment , understands what it takes to keep a foam operation running, and is comfortable getting onto the floor when equipment goes down. The right person will be able to lead and develop a maintenance team while still having the technical knowledge to troubleshoot difficult equipment problems, challenge recurring failures, and help determine the correct long-term repair. This person should understand that preventive maintenance isn't simply completing a checklist. The goal is to identify potential failures before they interrupt production and continually improve the maintenance program based on what the equipment is telling us. The Foam Pour Line Maintenance Manager should continuously be asking: What is causing downtime, why is it happening, and what are we doing to prevent it from happening again?
