Grede is seeking an experienced and self-motivated 2nd shift Maintenance Supervisor to maintain and support our Biscoe, NC foundry. The Maintenance Supervisor will supervise maintenance operations on the off shift by setting goals, organizing and assigning work, training employees, and maintaining a productive work environment in order to meet established maintenance schedules. This position must be able to work a variety of hours to ensure shift change is handled appropriately. This position will report to the Maintenance Manager.
What You'll Do:
  • Supervise, plan, and coordinate maintenance operating on assigned shift to minimize production downtime and maintain an effective machinery maintenance program.
  • Ensure quality of work, proper use and care of equipment and machine, and proper application of maintenance and repair methods.
  • Select and train employees in maintenance operations by using specific training programs in place.
  • Evaluate work performance, counsel and coach employees to maintain safe and efficient work performance.
  • Organize and assign completion of maintenance work orders, utilizing employees' knowledge, skills, and abilities to the best advantage to expedite repairs.
  • Maintain close observation over repairs, guiding employees concerning proper maintenance techniques.
  • Troubleshoot equipment or machine problems and take appropriate corrective action to ensure the equipment is repaired and returned to proper working order in a timely manner.
  • Assign completion of scheduled inspections and work orders according to the preventative maintenance schedule and appropriate documentation.
  • Follow up on any items noted as needing corrective action.
  • Prepare maintenance operating budget for assigned shift and administer and control budget during the business year.
  • Maintain conformance with company policies, work rules, and regulations by coaching employees and/or initiating disciplinary actions as required.
  • Enforce the proper use of safety equipment and maintain departmental housekeeping to produce a safe work environment.
  • Coach employees to reinforce safe work practices.
  • Maintain communication with other maintenance shifts and with other departments to promote efficient operations.
  • Must maintain acceptable safety and attendance records.
  • Will be required to work 10+ hours per day plus weekends as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by Maintenance Manager.

You:
  • 2- or 4-year degree in a related field preferred
  • 3-5 years of heavy manufacturing experience required; foundry experience preferred
  • 2-3 years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills required
  • Self-driven and able to work with minimal supervision required
  • Ability to stand, bend, twist, kneel, and walk for 10+ hours required
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs. required
