JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure engineering, maintenance, equipment installation, and contractor activities are performed in accordance with company safety standards and applicable requirements. Allocate appropriate resources, systems, training, and investments necessary to support the plant's goal of zero injuries. Establish and monitor safety expectations within the Engineering and Maintenance functions and hold employees accountable for safe work practices. Partner with plant leadership to identify and address equipment-related safety risks and corrective actions. Engineering & Equipment Development Lead the development, design, modification, and improvement of manufacturing equipment, machinery, processes, and systems to support production requirements. Develop and review engineering drawings, specifications, equipment layouts, technical documentation, and modification requirements. Identify engineering solutions that improve equipment capability, efficiency, quality, throughput, reliability, and safety. Plan and oversee equipment installation, commissioning, startup, and validation. Ensure new and modified equipment is properly integrated with existing manufacturing systems and processes. Provide technical leadership for mechanical, electrical, controls, automation, and equipment-related projects. Establish engineering standards and ensure equipment modifications are properly documented. Manage Maintenance Function Lead the overall plant maintenance and reliability function, including preventive, predictive, corrective, and planned maintenance programs. Develop and execute maintenance strategies designed to maximize equipment availability, reliability, performance, and asset life. Establish preventive and predictive maintenance standards, schedules, procedures, and compliance expectations. Monitor equipment condition and maintenance performance to proactively identify potential failures and reliability concerns. Lead efforts to reduce unplanned downtime, recurring equipment failures, emergency repairs, and maintenance-related production losses. Establish and monitor maintenance and reliability KPIs, including downtime, PM completion, equipment availability, recurring failures, maintenance costs, and other applicable performance measures. Use equipment and maintenance data to identify trends, prioritize improvement opportunities, and drive corrective actions. Lead or support root-cause analysis for significant or recurring mechanical, electrical, controls, automation, and equipment failures. Ensure corrective actions resulting from equipment failures are implemented and sustained. Coordinate maintenance activities with Production to balance immediate operational requirements with preventive maintenance and long-term equipment reliability. Ensure critical spare parts, maintenance resources, contractors, and technical support are appropriately planned and available. Continuously improve maintenance planning, scheduling, documentation, and work execution. Team Leadership & Talent Development Lead, coach, develop, and hold accountable Engineering and Maintenance employees. Establish clear roles, responsibilities, performance expectations, priorities, and measurable goals aligned with plant objectives. Develop the technical capabilities of Engineering and Maintenance employees through training, coaching, cross-training, and development planning. Invest in the professional growth and development of direct reports and create opportunities for employees to reach their full potential. Maintain appropriate performance documentation and provide coaching, counseling, recognition, and corrective action when necessary. Build an engaged team culture characterized by trust, accountability, open communication, teamwork, technical excellence, and recognition. Ensure appropriate staffing, scheduling, resource allocation, and succession planning within Engineering and Maintenance. Cross-Functional Plant Leadership Serve as a member of the plant leadership team and provide technical leadership regarding equipment, maintenance, reliability, engineering, and capital priorities. Partner with Production, Quality, Safety, Supply Chain, and other plant functions to resolve operational challenges and support plant objectives. Drive alignment between Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and other plant departments. Prioritize engineering and maintenance resources based on safety, production, reliability, quality, cost, and customer requirements. Communicate engineering, maintenance, reliability, capital project, and equipment performance results to plant leadership. Share best practices, challenge existing processes, and provide candid and respectful feedback. Support cross-functional projects and plant improvement initiatives. Assist the Plant Leader with plant initiatives and other duties as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Progressive engineering experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Demonstrated experience leading engineering, maintenance, reliability, or other technical teams. Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, controls, automation, and manufacturing equipment systems. Experience with manufacturing equipment installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, modification, and continuous improvement. Experience developing, implementing, or managing preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Experience with equipment reliability and root-cause analysis. Experience planning and executing capital projects. Proficiency with CAD software and other applicable engineering tools. Strong leadership, communication, planning, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications 7+ years of progressive engineering, maintenance, reliability, or manufacturing experience, including leadership responsibility. Experience leading multidisciplinary Engineering and Maintenance teams. Experience managing maintenance and reliability programs in a manufacturing environment. Experience with TPM, preventive and predictive maintenance, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, root-cause analysis, and data-driven continuous improvement. Experience managing capital projects, equipment installations, commissioning, and manufacturing process improvements. Experience establishing and managing maintenance, reliability, and equipment-performance KPIs. Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and maintenance planning and scheduling. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong leadership and people-development skills, with the ability to lead, develop, motivate, and hold technical teams accountable for performance and results. Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, controls, automation, manufacturing equipment systems, and equipment reliability principles. Strong understanding of TPM and preventive and predictive maintenance principles. Ability to utilize equipment and operational data, Six Sigma methodologies, and root-cause analysis to drive problem-solving, decision-making, and reduction of manufacturing losses and unnecessary costs. Strong project-management skills, including planning, prioritization, resource management, delegation, and execution. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization and lead cross-functional teams. Strong business judgment and financial acumen, including budgeting, cost management, and capital planning. Ability to balance immediate production needs with long-term equipment reliability, maintenance, and engineering priorities. Demonstrated understanding of how engineering and maintenance activities contribute to customer value, safety, quality, productivity, cost, and overall operational performance. Demonstrated commitment to safety, employee engagement, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. Proven ability to achieve results both independently and through technical and cross-functional teams.
