Lead Maintenance Technician We are seeking an experienced and dependable Lead Maintenance Technician to support the daily operation and maintenance of a large-scale industrial facility. The Lead Maintenance Technician will serve as the senior hands-on maintenance employee and will work closely with the Facility Manager to ensure the building, equipment, and facility systems remain safe, reliable, and operational. This position will also provide day-to-day direction to the Maintenance Technician and coordinate with outside contractors and service providers when specialized work is required. The ideal candidate is someone who can troubleshoot problems, perform hands-on repairs, prioritize work, and take ownership of facility issues from start to finish. Key Responsibilities Facility Maintenance
- Perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance throughout the facility.
- Troubleshoot and repair building systems, mechanical equipment, electrical components, plumbing, doors, dock equipment, HVAC-related issues, and other facility systems.
- Conduct regular facility inspections and identify potential problems before they become major repairs.
- Respond to maintenance requests and prioritize work based on safety, operational impact, and urgency.
- Assist with roof, drainage, lighting, fire/life-safety, and other building-related maintenance issues.
- Maintain and repair doors, dock equipment, roll-up doors, hardware, fixtures, and other building components.
- Perform basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and general construction repairs within the employee's qualifications and authorization. Lead Responsibilities
- Provide daily direction and support to the Maintenance Technician.
- Help establish daily and weekly maintenance priorities.
- Review completed work and ensure maintenance tasks are properly documented.
- Assist the Facility Manager with preventive maintenance planning and scheduling.
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors when outside services are required.
- Monitor contractor work to ensure the requested work is completed properly.
- Help maintain spare parts, tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies.
- Identify recurring problems and recommend permanent corrective actions rather than repeatedly making temporary repairs. Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety policies and applicable OSHA requirements.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Properly use required PPE, tools, ladders, lifts, and other equipment.
- Report unsafe conditions immediately.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Support inspections, audits, and facility compliance activities. Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of commercial, industrial, manufacturing, or large-facility maintenance experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting ability.
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to diagnose problems and determine the appropriate repair.
- Ability to read basic electrical/mechanical diagrams and equipment documentation.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, meters, ladders, lifts, and other maintenance equipment safely.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple maintenance issues.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with contractors, vendors, employees, and management.
- Ability to document maintenance activities and follow through on assigned work. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a large industrial or manufacturing facility.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs.
- Electrical troubleshooting experience.
- HVAC troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with building automation or facility monitoring systems.
- Experience with dock equipment and industrial doors.
- Experience coordinating contractors and vendors.
- Experience leading or directing other maintenance personnel.
What We Are Looking For The right person for this position should be hands-on, dependable, mechanically inclined, and comfortable taking ownership of problems. This is not simply a work-order position. The Lead Maintenance Technician will be expected to walk the facility, identify issues, determine what needs to be done, perform repairs when possible, and communicate larger issues to the Facility Manager. The successful candidate will become a key part of keeping the facility safe, functional, and operational every day. Physical Requirements
