Visit us at www.depalmahotels.com Position Summary We are seeking an experienced, hands-on, and service-focused Hotel Chief Engineer to lead the maintenance and engineering function for our full-service hotel. This position is responsible for maintaining the overall condition, safety, appearance, functionality, and reliability of the property, including guest rooms, public areas, meeting and event spaces, restaurant/bar areas, pools, fitness center, back-of-house areas, equipment rooms, building systems, and exterior spaces. The Hotel Chief Engineer plays a key leadership role in protecting the guest experience, supporting hotel operations, managing preventative maintenance, coordinating vendors, leading maintenance associates, and ensuring the property is clean, safe, operational, and well maintained. This position is ideal for a hotel engineering leader who can balance hands-on repair work with department leadership, planning, compliance, and operational follow-through. Responsibilities Lead the hotel maintenance and engineering function for a full-service Marriott hotel Oversee preventative maintenance programs for guest rooms, public areas, equipment, building systems, and hotel facilities Inspect the property regularly to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, equipment issues, and guest-impacting repairs Maintain the overall condition, appearance, safety, and functionality of the hotel interior and exterior Troubleshoot and support repairs involving plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, drywall, carpentry, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, pool systems, and general building systems Support guestroom readiness by helping ensure rooms are properly maintained, safe, clean, and available for sale Coordinate maintenance priorities with front office, housekeeping, banquet, culinary, food and beverage, sales, and hotel leadership teams Manage maintenance work orders, room repair needs, preventative maintenance documentation, inspections, and follow-up Supervise, train, schedule, and support maintenance associates as assigned Coordinate vendors, contractors, service providers, inspections, and specialized repair work as needed Assist with maintenance supply ordering, parts inventory, tools, equipment, and department organization Support banquet, meeting, restaurant, pool, fitness, and public-area operations by helping ensure equipment and facilities are operational Respond to guest and department maintenance requests in a timely, professional, and service-focused manner Help ensure compliance with hotel policies, Marriott brand standards, safety procedures, fire/life safety expectations, and company standards Maintain clean, safe, organized, and secure maintenance areas, storage spaces, tools, and equipment Support capital projects, property improvement projects, inspections, emergency repairs, and special projects as assigned Serve as a visible, hands-on department leader who helps create a safe, well-maintained, and guest-ready hotel environment Qualifications Required Minimum of 3 years of hotel engineering, facilities maintenance, building maintenance, maintenance leadership, or related hands-on maintenance experience Previous supervisory, lead technician, chief engineer, assistant chief engineer, facilities manager, or maintenance management experience Strong working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, drywall, carpentry, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, and general building repair Ability to lead a maintenance function while also performing hands-on repairs as needed Ability to manage preventative maintenance, work orders, inspections, vendors, supplies, and repair priorities Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and well-kept property Ability to communicate professionally with guests, associates, vendors, department leaders, and hotel leadership Ability to troubleshoot problems, prioritize competing needs, and respond to urgent maintenance issues Ability to work on your feet, lift, bend, climb, push, pull, and complete physical work throughout the shift Reliable attendance and ability to work a flexible schedule based on hotel needs Ability to work weekends, holidays, and on-call or after-hours coverage as needed Preferred Previous chief engineer, assistant chief engineer, engineering manager, or maintenance manager experience in a full-service hotel Experience working in a Marriott, Delta Hotels by Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham, or other branded hotel environment Experience with hotel preventative maintenance programs, guestroom inspections, life safety systems, pool operations, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, and building systems Experience supporting banquet/event space, restaurant/bar operations, meeting rooms, pools, fitness centers, and high-volume guestroom operations Experience managing vendors, contractors, service agreements, inspections, budgets, supplies, and maintenance projects HVAC, EPA, CPO, electrical, plumbing, boiler/operator, fire/life safety, or related trade certifications are a plus Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills are a plus Schedule Flexible schedule based on business and property needs Day, evening, weekend, and holiday availability required On-call availability may be required based on hotel operations Emergency maintenance response may be required as needed Job Type Full-time Pay $80,000 per year, based on experience Benefits Eligible associates may be offered: Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company contribution Paid time off Holiday pay Marriott travel discounts and perks Growth and advancement opportunities with an established hotel management company Join Our Team This is a great opportunity for an experienced hotel engineering leader who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, operational, and guest-ready property.
