Summary The position below presents an exciting opportunity to supervise a maintenance team at one of our garages in Northern NJ
  • Market Street Garage and or a garage within proximity.
Location will be discussed in detail during the interview process.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Supervises employees on assigned shifts, including assigning, and reviewing work to ensure sufficient, clean, and safe vehicles are available for pull-out. Coordinates with other Maintenance Foremen and Transportation staff at the garage, the Control Center, and Bus garages to ensure that road calls are properly handled and that pull-outs go smoothly. Monitors workforce at assigned locations to coordinate maintenance activities and clean-up activities and to ensure equipment is inspected in accordance with
NJ TRANSIT
maintenance standards. Supervises stock room, authorizes special orders, issues materials, and ensures security and accurate stock accounting. Trains, counsels, and motivates staff to maintain and improve productivity. Enforces work rules, safety, and cleanliness standards, and monitors the condition of the facility and equipment. Responsible for monitoring the timeliness and completeness of the revenue collection system, including proper vaulting procedures and reporting procedures.
Education, Qualifications, and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent Three (3) years of applied experience in bus or automotive maintenance
Knowledge and Skills:
Required:
Knowledge and experience in automotive maintenance of vehicles Technical knowledge working on computers Excellent written and communication skills
Preferred:
Diesel experience Supervisory experience
Working Environment:
Fast-paced garage/warehouse work environment Work independently with minimal supervision Exposure to equipment, machinery/vehicles, chemicals, and other hazardous materials Garages are highly noisy/ loud, contain dirt and dust, and are always open with exposure to extreme temperatures during different seasons
Physical Demands and Other Conditions:
Perform tasks that may include heavy physical labor such as lifting and carrying heavy items Ability to stand, sit, walk, kneel, and bend throughout the workday Must be able to pass NJ TRANSIT's pre-employment physical

Salary:
$52,000 to $102,000 Annually
