Head Maintenance Person

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head Maintenance Person to lead our facilities maintenance team with energy and precision. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all aspects of maintenance operations across our facilities, ensuring optimal functionality, safety, and efficiency.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

: This is an important maintenance position involving responsibility for the efficient operation and up-keep of school mechanical and electrical equipment. General direction is given work by a Superintendent of Buildings, allowing considerable leeway for the exercise of independent judgment in keeping equipment up to approved standards. Immediate supervision is exercised over several employees, including a carpenter and a plumber. Skills Strong management skills with proven experience supervising maintenance teams in an industrial or manufacturing environment Extensive knowledge of electrical systems including high voltage and low voltage applications; skilled in using tools like ohmmeters for diagnostics Proficiency with CMMS platforms for scheduling and tracking maintenance activities Solid understanding of HVAC systems, mechanical components, schematics interpretation, and industrial maintenance practices Ability to read technical diagrams and schematics accurately for troubleshooting complex machinery Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively under pressure Leadership qualities that inspire teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement in facilities management Fluency in English with strong communication skills for clear documentation and team coordination

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

: Thorough knowledge of the standard practices, processes, materials and accident precautions of the plumbing, steam-fitting, electrical and roofing trades; ability to plan work and to supervise subordinates on the job; dependability; good judgment and good physical condition.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

: Two (2) years of satisfactory experience as a plumber, electrician and roofer and completion of a standard grade school course, or any satisfactory equivalent combination of the foregoing training and experience.
