Starting salary is determined by evaluation of experience and qualifications for the position and will be set at some point between the minimum and maximum of the pay scale.
JOB SUMMARY
Supervise and coordinate the activities of floor supervisors, mechanics, shop foremen, and utility workers. Oversee and direct scheduled maintenance and repair of all vehicles. Responsible for maintenance and security of all facilities. Regular workdays are Monday through Friday; weekends upon demand. Position is exempt.
MAJOR DUTIES
1. Communicates with CNYRTA Fleet Manager, various department managers, supervisors and foremen regarding current and future work assignments. 2. Prioritizes assignments with Assistant Manager and monitors employee productivity. 3. Monitors maintenance expenses to ensure budgetary compliance. 4. Ascertain training needs; coordinates and schedules training as necessary. 5. Prepare monthly reports as required for Oneida Manager and Fleet Manager. 6. Consult with union representatives to resolve labor issues as needed. 7. Analyze and monitor repeat repairs tracking process. 8. Meet with service representatives regarding warranty issues, fleet defects, and product changes, and coordinates any action necessary with Assistant Manager. 9. Monitors overall scheduled maintenance and repair program of all vehicles. 10. Responsible for maintenance of facility and building security systems. 11. Responsible for the overall condition of bus fleet. 12. Review and maintain records for employee discipline, leave, vacations, etc. 13. Review and submit mileage and tire reports to CNYRTA Fleet Manager. 14. Monitor monthly inventory of fuel, motor oil, transmission fluids and lubricants 15. Oversee, control, and be responsible for all physical inventories. 16. Implement and maintain safety measures in the department. 17. Develop, evaluate and implement cost saving measures. 18. Assists in preparation of the specifications for the acquisition of vehicles and capital equipment 19. Prepares specifications and oversees all maintenance vendor contracts. 20. Responsible for ensuring OHSA compliance within assigned properties. 21. Travel between all locations to maintain direct contact with employees. 22. Ensure bus and facility maintenance and safety procedures are being followed at all properties. 23. Performs other related duties as assigned.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
1. Knowledge of safety and compliance standards including OSHA, DOT, EPA, and DEC 2. Knowledge of commercial vehicle shop equipment, and employee duties and responsibilities 3. Knowledge of repair principles and procedures associated with diesel powered equipment 4. Knowledge of repair principles and procedures associated with air brake systems 5. Effective oral and written communications 6. Fundamentals of asset management 7. Understanding of loss control practices including data collection and analytics 8. Fundamentals of scheduling, reporting, and tracking key performance indicators (KPI) 9. Organizational processes, root cause analysis, department workflows, SOPs and One-Best-Way processes 10. Build trusting, collaborative relationships and alliances across functional and organizational boundaries 11. Research and integrate relevant information and data, and use expertise to make sound decisions 12. Identify the requirements, expectations, and needs of customers (internal and external) 13.
