Job Description

Role Overview The Maintenance Supervisor for our ductile iron casting operations oversees the daily technical functions within our heavy manufacturing foundry. This position is vital for maintaining high equipment availability, upholding rigorous safety standards, and ensuring the reliability of core production assets, such as electric induction furnaces, automated molding lines, sand processing systems, and blast cleaning machinery. Leadership and Safety Guide and develop a diverse team of maintenance technicians skilled in mechanical, electrical, and PLC/automation disciplines. Promote a culture of safety by ensuring strict adherence to protocols like LOTO, confined space entry, fall protection, and PPE usage. Perform root-cause analysis on equipment breakdowns to help prevent future issues and improve overall system reliability. Foundry Equipment Maintenance Manage the upkeep of melt shop assets, including coreless induction furnaces, water-cooling setups, charging hardware, and refractory linings. Support high molding line uptime by troubleshooting automated flask or flaskless systems like DISAMATIC, Hunter, or Sinto units. Maintain the integrity of sand-handling infrastructure, such as green sand mixers, mullers, aerators, elevators, and dust collection systems. Ensure finishing operations run smoothly by supporting shot blast machines, grinding tools, and CNC machining centers. Operational Excellence Drive the Preventive and Predictive Maintenance schedules through effective use of our CMMS platform. Coordinate rapid response repairs during unplanned downtime to help minimize impact on production output. Oversee spare parts inventory to ensure essential foundry components like furnace parts, hydraulics, and sensors are always available. Direct third-party contractors during major facility shutdowns, rebuilds, or capital improvement projects. Qualifications and Expertise Background and Education Possess at least 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience in heavy industrial maintenance, with a preference for foundry or steel mill backgrounds. Demonstrate a solid understanding of ductile or gray iron casting processes and the machinery involved. Hold a high school diploma or GED, with a technical degree or journeyman certification in a relevant trade being highly advantageous.
Technical Proficiency Electrical & Automation:
Expertise in 480V 3-phase power, control circuits, and troubleshooting PLCs like Allen-Bradley or Siemens.
Mechanical & Fluid Power:
Advanced knowledge of industrial hydraulics, pneumatics, heavy-duty gearboxes, and precision alignment.
Metallurgical Equipment:
Hands-on experience with induction melting technology and the maintenance of furnace refractory. Leadership Competencies Maintain the ability to thrive in a demanding, high-heat, and fast-paced industrial setting. Communicate effectively to foster strong collaboration with production supervisors and plant leadership. Utilize exceptional problem-solving abilities to resolve critical equipment breakdowns under pressure.
