Job Description
Maintenance ManagerPosition Overview We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead our maintenance team in a fast-paced food production and manufacturing environment. The Maintenance Manager will ensure reliable operation of production equipment, maintain facility utilities, and support food safety and quality standards. This role focuses on preventive and corrective maintenance, team leadership, cost control, and collaboration with production, product development, and distribution functions to minimize downtime and drive continuous improvement.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement and manage a comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance program for production equipment, utilities and facility systems.
Lead, coach and schedule a team of maintenance technicians; recruit, train and evaluate staff performance.
Respond to and troubleshoot equipment failures and breakdowns to minimize production downtime and lost product.
Plan and execute repairs, rebuilds and capital projects in coordination with production schedules and safety requirements.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders and equipment history using CMMS; manage spare parts inventory and procurement.
Ensure compliance with food safety (HACCP, GMP) and workplace safety (OSHA) regulations; lead safety audits, risk assessments and corrective actions.
Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors; negotiate service agreements and monitor vendor performance.
Control maintenance budget, track costs and recommend cost-saving initiatives and equipment life-cycle planning.
Collaborate with production, quality, product development and distribution teams to support new product introductions, line changeovers and process improvements.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives (5S, TPM, root-cause analysis) to improve equipment reliability, throughput and product quality.
QualificationsAssociate or Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance or related field, or equivalent experience.5+ years of progressive maintenance experience in food manufacturing, food processing or food production environments; 2+ years in a supervisory or management role preferred.
Strong mechanical, electrical and PLC troubleshooting skills, with hands-on experience on mixers, ovens, conveyors, packaging equipment and utilities (HVAC, compressors, boilers).Proven knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, GMP) and regulatory requirements applicable to food production.
Experience with CMMS systems, preventive and predictive maintenance techniques, and spare parts management.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage projects, and communicate effectively with production, quality, distribution and engineering stakeholders.
Familiarity with product development support, line changeovers and coordination with distribution/logistics teams.
Certifications such as Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP), Industrial Electrician or relevant safety certifications (OSHA 30) are a plus.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed for emergency support and planned maintenance.
