Fleet & Equipment Maintenance Manager Central Ohio Contractors Inc - 3.8 Grove City, OH Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications Vendor relationship building Diesel engine system repair Vehicle mechanics for truck drivers Diesel mechanics Fleet management Diesel truck repair Automotive diagnostic tools Technical Proficiency Full Job Description A Maintenance Manager in the waste fleet and demolition industry oversees the upkeep, repair, and safety of heavy-duty vehicles, heavy equipment, and processing facilities. This role maximizes asset utilization, minimizes costly equipment downtime, and ensures strict compliance with federal and state environmental and transportation regulations. Key Responsibilities Fleet & Equipment Maintenance Preventive Maintenance (PM): Develop and implement comprehensive PM schedules for heavyduty diesel trucks (rolloffs, front loaders), excavators, crushers, and material handlers to prevent breakdowns.
Asset Tracking:
Monitor vehicle availability, track machinery dynamics, and reduce overall equipment downtime.
Repairs & Troubleshooting:
Supervise diagnostic, mechanical, and electrical repairs, ensuring all work orders are accurately logged into a vehicle maintenance system.
Compliance & Safety Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all fleet and shop operations adhere to DOT (Department of Transportation), OSHA, and EPA regulations.
Safety Culture:
Manage strict adherence to safety standards, including pre/posttrip inspections, Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR), and routine safety audits.
Budget & Inventory Management Cost Controls:
Oversee departmental budgets, manage parts inventory levels, and review body damage estimates.
Vendor Relations:
Coordinate external maintenance and warranty recovery, and negotiate parts pricing.
Asset Purchasing:
Provide datadriven recommendations for capital equipment purchases and fleet upgrades.
Team Leadership Supervision:
Lead, train, and schedule shift supervisors, mechanics, and welders across one or more facility locations.
Performance Management:
Set performance standards, conduct evaluations, and identify ongoing training needs for the maintenance team.
Qualifications & Requirements Experience:
5+ years of progressive, handson experience in fleet management, with strong expertise in heavyduty diesel mechanics and hydraulic systems.
Industry Knowledge:
Deep understanding of the waste, recycling, or demolition sectors and their specific equipment demands.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in fleet management software (e.g., Dossier) and diagnostic tools.
Certifications:
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is highly preferred; ASE certifications are a distinct advantage.
