Maintenance Manager

Job Description

JOB FUNCTION
The Manufacturing Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all maintenance activities within a high-volume manufacturing facility specializing in roll forming, robotic welding, and metal fabrication operations. This position oversees preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs while ensuring maximum equipment uptime, operational efficiency, and workplace safety. The Manufacturing Maintenance Manager also directs building and grounds maintenance, capital improvement projects, contractor management, and facility utilities to support continuous production.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Lead all maintenance activities for Manufacturing facility including but not limited to: roll forming equipment, welding cells, forges, laser cutting equipment, material handling systems, compressors, and production support equipment. Develop and manage preventative and predictive maintenance programs that maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, robotic, PLC, and automation issues. Coordinate emergency repairs while minimizing production disruptions. Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement; Plan and manage equipment installations and facility expansion projects. Develop capital expenditure budgets for equipment replacement and facility improvement Coordinate contractors, vendors, and outside service providers; Negotiate vendor contracts and service agreements. Work closely with Operations, Engineering, and Production teams to improve equipment efficiency and productivity. Manage spare parts inventory and establish critical spare parts programs. Manage all facility maintenance including but not limited to: HVAC, lighting, plumbing, roof, fire protection systems, compressed air and building structures. Maintain parking lots, sidewalks, landscaping, snow removal, and grounds. Coordinate janitorial services and facility cleanliness standards. Recruit, train, supervise, and develop maintenance technicians. Schedule maintenance personnel to provide production support across all shifts. Establish performance expectations and accountability. Foster a culture focused on safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Conduct employee evaluations and provide coaching for professional growth. Ensure all equipment complies with OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards. Lead Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) compliance and equipment safety inspections. Support environmental compliance including stormwater, SPCC, and facility maintenance requirements. Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation. Promote safe work practices throughout the maintenance department.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong leadership and team development skills. Excellent troubleshooting and root cause analysis abilities. Knowledge of robotic automation and industrial controls. Experience reading mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics. Understanding of OSHA safety regulations and industrial maintenance best practices. Strong project management and organizational skills. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CMMS software.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment required 7+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment. 3+ years leading maintenance teams. Prior experience in a leadership, team lead, or supervisory capacity preferred Experience working with production schedules, meeting deadlines, and maintaining productivity goals
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to walk throughout a manufacturing facility daily. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to climb ladders and work at heights when necessary. Ability to work around moving machinery, welding operations, and industrial equipment. Ability to respond to equipment emergencies outside normal business hours as needed.
