Position Summary The Assistant Maintenance Manager supports the Maintenance Manager in overseeing the maintenance, reliability, and repair of plant equipment, utilities, and facility systems. This position provides day-to-day leadership to maintenance technicians, coordinates preventive and corrective maintenance activities, and helps ensure equipment is maintained safely, efficiently, and reliably. The Assistant Maintenance Manager serves as a hands-on leader and is expected to provide technical guidance, assist with troubleshooting, coordinate maintenance priorities with operations, and help develop the maintenance team. Key Responsibilities Maintenance Leadership Assist the Maintenance Manager with the daily direction and supervision of maintenance technicians. Assign and prioritize maintenance work based on production requirements, equipment condition, safety, and operational needs. Provide technical guidance and support during equipment troubleshooting and repairs. Serve as the maintenance department's primary point of contact when the Maintenance Manager is unavailable. Promote accountability, teamwork, workmanship, and continuous improvement within the maintenance department. Assist with technician training, development, and performance expectations. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Support the development and execution of preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Ensure scheduled PM work is completed accurately and on time. Review PM procedures and frequencies and recommend improvements based on equipment history and operating conditions. Participate in safety inspections, incident investigations, and corrective-action activities. Maintain high standards for housekeeping and organization in maintenance shops and work areas. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. 5+ years of industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience. Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and repairing production equipment. Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Experience with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS/work-order systems. Ability to read equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical documentation. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Preferred Associate degree, technical degree, or recognized trade certification in industrial maintenance, electrical technology, mechanical technology, automation, or a related field. Previous maintenance lead, supervisor, or management experience. Experience with PLC-controlled equipment, variable-frequency drives (VFDs), motor controls, instrumentation, and industrial automation. Experience with predictive maintenance and reliability programs. Experience with maintenance planning, scheduling, and spare-parts management. Spend appropriate time in the plant supporting technicians and observing equipment conditions. Develop technicians rather than simply directing work. Encourage technicians to identify and correct the root cause of failures instead of repeatedly repairing symptoms. Hold employees accountable for completing assigned work and documenting maintenance activities. Communicate clearly with maintenance personnel and plant leadership. Support a proactive maintenance culture focused on preventing failures rather than reacting to breakdowns. Physical Requirements Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment. Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs and ladders, bend, kneel, and access equipment as necessary. Ability to safely lift and handle tools, equipment, and maintenance components as required. Ability to work around operating machinery and in varying environmental conditions. Ability to respond to equipment failures or maintenance emergencies when required. Supervisory Responsibility Provides daily direction and technical leadership to maintenance technicians and contractors as assigned. May assume responsibility for maintenance department operations in the absence of the Maintenance Manager.
Pay:
$28.00 - $34.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
