This role is responsible for supervising maintenance mechanics and supporting the repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of industrial baking and production equipment, including ovens, mixers, conveyors, product handling systems, and other bakery machinery. This person will help ensure maximum equipment uptime, safe work practices, accurate compliance documentation, and strong team performance in a bakery production setting. Key Responsibilities Supervise, support, and coach maintenance mechanics in a food production facility Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and service industrial baking equipment, including ovens, mixers, conveyors, and product handling systems Assign daily work, monitor performance, and help develop maintenance team skills Assist with interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training maintenance employees Support performance management, employee recognition, corrective action, and problem resolution Maintain accurate maintenance and compliance records Use and support the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) Enforce all OSHA, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and company safety policies Work closely with production to minimize downtime and restore equipment quickly Provide hands-on floor support during breakdowns, changeovers, and urgent production needs Report directly to the Chief Engineer Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED 5+ years of experience as a Maintenance Technician or Maintenance Mechanic in manufacturing, food production, bakery production, or a related industrial environment Leadership or supervisory experience in maintenance operations Basic PLC troubleshooting skills Strong electrical troubleshooting skills Competent welding skills Ability to read mechanical blueprints and electrical schematics Experience following OSHA safety standards and Lockout/Tagout procedures Ability to work all shifts and weekends as needed Preferred Skills Experience in bakery manufacturing or food processing Preventive maintenance and equipment reliability experience Valid Limited Maintenance Electrician (LME) license Experience working with conveyors, industrial mixers, ovens, motors, controls, and automated production equipment Strong communication, training, and team leadership skills Experience using CMMS software for work orders and maintenance tracking Work Environment and Physical Requirements Regularly work near moving mechanical parts Exposure to wet, humid, dusty, noisy, and hot environments Exposure to chemicals used in the manufacturing process Ability to work around high-heat equipment, including baking equipment operating around 400 degrees Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, and rapid movement Ability to climb ladders and work at heights up to 50 feet Ability to lift up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
