1. Bachelor's Degree in Facilities Management or Engineering or an Equivalent combination of training and experience. 2. Five (5) years experience in Private or Public Institutional or Commercial Custodial and Maintenance operations with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or leadership capacity. 3. Demonstrate abilities to prepare and interpret plans and specifications; estimate material and labor costs; prepare verbal and written reports; manage personnel; manage program budgets and labor contracts; and function as a member of a management team. 4. Demonstrate competence in mechanical, electrical and energy management systems. 5. Must have certification in PA Class A & B underground storage tank operations, pesticide application and pool/spa operations, or willingness to obtain these as needed, within 6-12 months of hire date. 6. Must maintain records and work with Pennsylvania Department of Education, DEP and Department of Labor and Industry regarding underground tanks, swimming pools, septic treatment plants and buildings. 7. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and have the ability to operate all District owned vehicles and equipment.
PURPOSE OF JOB
To perform maintenance/repair as needed and to be familiar with the equipment operation and cleaning/maintenance procedures in each District building, to be subject to emergency calls to each building, strive to maintain a high level of morale and pride in the care of all the buildings and grounds, maintain good communication with the Building Principals, teachers and students in the schools.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Assumes responsibility for keeping Mount Pleasant Area School District buildings and equipment in good condition to provide for the maximum welfare and safety of the teachers, students and others in the building and on the grounds. 2. Assumes responsibility for the planning and scheduling of maintenance and required repairs for the District, and performs maintenance tasks as required and needed. 3. Establishes appropriate maintenance, grounds-keeping, security and custodial requirements for the District. 4. Ensures that compliance with all applicable laws is maintained at a minimum. 5. Determines detailed specifications for all supplies, materials and equipment. 6. Recommends necessary purchases of supplies and equipment. 7. Inspects all District buildings, grounds and installations on a regular basis to determine that high standards of workmanship, cleanliness, safety and security are maintained. 8. Conducts periodic inspection of all District facilities to ensure fire and public safety in compliance with the District Emergency Operations Plan. 9. Maintain safety of playgrounds and equipment. 10. Organizes and implements a program of preventative maintenance. 11. Ensures that all security systems and fire alarms systems are fully operational and that all changes are properly approved and executed. 12. Prepares and administers the budget for maintenance, grounds and custodial supplies and equipment. 13. Maintains personnel, insurance, driving records and other records as necessary. 14. Supervises and inspects all work performed by outside contractors and verifies that the terms of such contracts have been fulfilled before authorizing payment. 15. Directs the preparation of playing fields, grounds and other necessary facilities for athletics and other school and custodial personnel. 16. Assists in the recruitment, employment, assignment, transfer, promotion, demotion or dismissal of maintenance and custodial personnel. 17. Makes recommendations for the assignment or termination of all personnel in areas of operations. 18. Conducts a continuing program of staff training and personnel development for custodial and maintenance staff. 19. Establishes the work schedule for all custodial, maintenance and security personnel in conjunction with the building principals. 20. Coordinates vacation schedules for departmental personnel. 21. Performs duties with awareness of all District requirements and policies. 22. Assumes any other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.
