Maintenance Supervisor - 2nd Shift Job Description The Maintenance Supervisor oversees all maintenance activities on 2nd shift, ensuring reliable operation of facility systems and production equipment in a food manufacturing environment. This role plans and implements maintenance programs, provides hands-on technical support with a strong focus on electrical systems, and leads a team of maintenance employees to maintain high standards of safety, efficiency, and product quality. Responsibilities Provide day-to-day leadership, technical support, guidance, coaching, and motivation to maintenance employees on 2nd shift. Establish work assignments for maintenance staff and coordinate training as needed to build skills and ensure safe, efficient work practices. Evaluate maintenance needs across the facility and recommend new equipment or design changes to improve safety, increase efficiency, and reduce operating costs. Plan, implement, and maintain a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all production machinery and support equipment. Maintain plant support systems including compressed air, refrigeration, steam, building infrastructure, and HVAC systems to ensure reliable operation. Requisition maintenance supplies, parts, and materials in a timely manner to support work activities and minimize losses from waste or theft. Review and evaluate maintenance service requests, determine the required service and time involved, and decide whether to repair or replace damaged or defective parts or components. Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and governmental regulations, as well as relevant regulatory laws and guidelines. Implement and consistently follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) within all maintenance activities in a food processing environment. Collaborate with production and other departments to minimize downtime and support continuous improvement of processes and equipment reliability. Promote and enforce safe work practices, maintaining a strong safety culture within the maintenance team. Support troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical issues on production lines and utility systems, including PLC-related problems and schematic interpretation. Essential Skills Five to ten years of progressive maintenance experience in a food processing or food manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and their application in a food production facility. Experience in maintenance management and supervision, including leading, guiding, and coaching maintenance staff. Industrial maintenance expertise with hands-on experience working on production equipment and plant utilities. Industrial electrical skills, including the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems. Superior problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues quickly and implement effective solutions. Strong communication skills for interacting with maintenance staff and cross-functional teams. Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions that show understanding of technical and operational issues. Ability to handle multiple demands and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced production environment. Mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting abilities across mechanical and electrical systems. High level of attention to detail in planning, documentation, and execution of maintenance tasks. Self-motivation and strong safety awareness, consistently promoting and practicing safe work habits. Additional Skills & Qualifications Four-year college degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field preferred but not required. Previous supervision experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting preferred. Ability to lead, guide, and coach others to perform at high standards. Skill in foreseeing potential problems and developing preventative solutions. Ability to motivate team members and foster a collaborative, high-performance environment. Work Environment The Maintenance Supervisor works primarily in the production plant, with some time spent in an office setting for planning and administrative tasks. Plant conditions can be hot, and the role requires regular physical activity, including standing, walking, sitting, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, crawling, and climbing. The position involves lifting between 20 and 50 pounds as part of normal maintenance duties. The schedule is on 2nd shift, typically from 3:30 p.m. until production is completed, and requires flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed to support production demands and maintenance activities. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of New Holland, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $115000.00/yr.
