Job Description

Diocese of Scranton Cemetery Superintendent The Diocese of Scranton is looking for qualified candidates for the position of Cemetery Superintendent at Cathedral Cemetery located in Scranton Pa. The Cemetery Superintendent reports the Diocesan Director of Cemeteries and will be responsible for overseeing the day to day administrative and ground operations at Cathedral Cemetery. 1. Responsible for overseeing all administrative aspects of the cemetery 2. Supervise all office and field personnel 3. Responsible for preparing and reporting to Director of Cemeteries, daily/weekly work schedule and sees that duties are accomplished in a timely fashion 4. Monitor and keep within cemetery budget/payroll 5. Responsible for allocation and supervision of work schedule with periodic updates with cemeteries director in regards and not limited to maintenance of properties, grounds and physical plant
EXAMPLE:
A. Keeping sidewalks and roadway clear of all debris, snow removal, etc. B. Maintain cemetery grounds, cutting and trimming of grass debris removal C. Maintenance of all equipment during the off season(winter) D. Keep garage/breakroom and restrooms clean at all times(daily/year-round) E. Vacuum chapel after each funeral F. When short staffed superintendent will fill vacancy of a laborer during vacation or sick time 6. Responsible for inventory and maintenance schedule of all vehicles, mechanical equipment, and office computers, etc. 7. Financially responsible to work within fiscal budget for the procurement of all products and contracted services provided to the cemetery 8. The superintendent will be involved in all cemetery capital expenditure projects 9. Responsible for all cemetery at-need and pre-need lot sales and future marketing strategies 10. Responsible for the performance of all cemetery interments and corresponding record keeping 11. Responsible for the computerization (CEMCOR) of all burial records, sales, accounts receivable and monthly reports 12. Responsible for and reconciliation of all bank deposits 13. Will perform all other duties and responsibilities as given per the Director of Cemeteries 14.
Superintendent working hours-full time:
7:30 am to 4:00 pm 15.
