Supervisor, Maintenance - UPMC Washington

Responsibilities:
Effectively oversee FTE staff to ensure continuous improvement in productivity and quality. Manage daily staffing requirements and schedules to ensure work and special assignments are completed in a timely manner. Supervise all front-line staff within the reporting structure. Support employee orientation, retention, performance appraisals, and hiring recommendations. Administer progressive discipline and ensure compliance with training requirements, seniority rules, and overtime rotation. Participate in administering department policies and employee contractual agreements under the direction of the Manager, Facilities. Identify and address personnel issues early, facilitating discussion and resolution while escalating concerns as needed. Investigate ongoing personnel concerns and utilize available resources to achieve permanent solutions. Routinely inspect assigned areas and equipment to ensure safety, housekeeping, and regulatory compliance. Oversee testing and training to maintain compliance with TJC, DOH, AAALAC, CAP, DLAR, Department of Agriculture, and other applicable standards. Manage all payroll-related procedures, including employee hours, overtime, salary increases, attendance tracking, and compliance with contractual obligations.
Schedule:
Rotating days of the week, including weekends. Primarily 7AM-3:30PM, but also on call is required.
Education Required:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Years of Experience Required:
4 years of experience in institutional building maintenance. Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency of two or more primary crafts of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, refrigeration and/or HVAC with an adequate understanding and skills in all phases of building maintenance. Proven abilities to plan, coordinate and execute all requirements of major repairs, installations of equipment or systems, construction and renovation projects, or various other design project work. Communication skills to provide quality interaction with staff as to effectively supervise. Military Experience Considered.
