The Irrigation Installation & Repair Team Leader is responsible for leading a small team with new irrigation system installation, troubleshooting, and repair of existing residential and commercial irrigation systems. This role ensures that daily tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and according to company and industry standards. The Team Leader serves as the on-site decision-maker, providing technical expertise, directing crew members, and maintaining professional communication with clients and management. Key Responsibilities Crew Leadership & Daily Management Lead irrigation crew members in daily installation, repair, and maintenance tasks. Assign work, provide instruction, and ensure crew members follow proper procedures and safety practices. Train crew members on installation techniques, troubleshooting methods, equipment use, and job-site safety. Maintain a positive, productive team environment and set the example for professionalism and work ethic. Irrigation System Installation Perform and lead all aspects of irrigation installation, including trenching, pipe installation, valves, wiring, sprinkler heads/nozzles, drip systems, sensors, and controller setup. Interpret irrigation layouts, plans, and specifications to ensure accurate installation. Verify system coverage, pressure, and performance before system turnover to the client or management. Ensure installations follow manufacturer specifications and current industry best practices. Irrigation Repair & Troubleshooting Diagnose and repair irrigation system issues including leaks, wiring faults, valve failures, controller malfunctions, low-pressure zones, and broken components. Provide on-site technical solutions for complex water-flow or electrical troubleshooting. Complete service tickets accurately and ensure repair work is documented clearly. Communication & Customer Service Communicate professionally with clients on-site regarding system operation, repair needs, and project updates. progress, service issues, material needs, and schedule concerns to management promptly. Uphold company service standards and ensure customer satisfaction with completed work. Operational Responsibilities Ensure job sites are organized, safe, and meet company cleanliness standards. Monitor material usage, ensure proper inventory on the truck, and report supply needs. Maintain and operate trenchers, vibratory plows, multimeters, wire locators, and related irrigation tools. Complete daily job logs, service reports, and time records accurately. Safety & Compliance Enforce crew compliance with all safety protocols, including PPE use, trenching safety, electrical safety, and equipment operation guidelines. Ensure work practices comply with local regulations and water-use guidelines. Promote a work culture that prioritizes safety, caution, and proper job-site conduct. Qualifications 7+ years of hands-on irrigation installation or repair experience required. Demonstrated ability to lead or supervise a small crew. Strong knowledge of hydraulics, electrical troubleshooting, controller programming, and irrigation components. Ability to read and interpret irrigation plans and system diagrams. Experience with major brands (Rain Bird, Hunter, Toro, etc.). Valid driver's license required; certifications preferred but not mandatory. Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Working Conditions Outdoor work in various weather conditions with frequent walking, bending, digging, and lifting 50+ lbs. Daily operation of irrigation tools, trenchers, and equipment. Travel between multiple job sites required. Performance Expectations Deliver high-quality, efficient irrigation work.
