MACHINE MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
(STARLINK) - MULTIPLE SHIFTS At SpaceX, we are applying decades of experience designing, building, and flying rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink-the world's most advanced broadband internet system. Starlink is the largest satellite constellation ever built and already delivers fast, reliable internet to millions of users worldwide. We design, manufacture, test, and operate every element of the system: thousands of satellites, user terminals that connect within minutes of unboxing, and the software that ties it all together. We are only beginning to realize Starlink's potential global impact and are seeking exceptional talent to help maximize its value for communities and businesses around the world. SpaceX is looking for an experienced Machine Maintenance Supervisor to lead maintenance operations that support Starlink production and operations. In this role, you will build and develop a high-performing maintenance team and establish the processes, standards, and culture needed for excellence. You will manage schedules, workflows, and resources in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while ensuring equipment reliability and uptime that directly enable Starlink's mission.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the build-out and development of a high-performing team of multi-skilled technicians capable of supporting the full range of process equipment used in Starlink production Establish and continuously refine Preventive Maintenance (PM) work plans and schedules for all assets Drive collaboration with engineers and planners to define corrective maintenance strategies and target completion dates based on failure analysis, ensuring they feed into robust Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules Spearhead the partnership with engineering to stay current on emerging technologies and proactively evaluate/implement solutions that improve production operations and equipment reliability Build and manage a spares inventory strategy tailored to each equipment type to fully support the overall maintenance approach Direct coordination with the scheduler to ensure the right technicians and contractors are assigned to complete the full Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedule Oversee the execution of all maintenance work, including emergency breakdowns, while actively monitoring progress and removing obstacles Lead hands-on troubleshooting and technical decision-making as needed to drive timely resolution of issues Ensure clear, proactive communication of work progress and status to all stakeholders at every stage Develop and manage key performance metrics (Uptime, OEE, Mean Time to Repair, etc.) to drive data-based decision making across the department Verify and confirm that all maintenance activities have been completed as planned and that assets are restored to required operating specifications Identify residual risks or effects after repairs and take decisive action to prevent recurrence Lead root cause analysis and deliver high-quality reports that feed learning and improvement opportunities back to maintenance engineers and asset owners Assign the correct skills to every job, maintain an accurate skills matrix for the entire technician team, and proactively identify and close training gaps Manage daily activity logging, major breakdown reporting, workforce shift utilization, and absence requests to ensure full operational visibility and control
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of professional experience in machining, maintenance, or production/manufacturing; OR 5+ years of professional experience in machining, maintenance, or production/manufacturing 1+ years of experience directly leading a team or project
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Degree in an engineering discipline Experience working in a high-volume manufacturing or production environment that required frequent adaptation to changing work assignments and shifting priorities Demonstrated ownership of clear, effective verbal and written communication with engineering and production teams Proven experience applying lean manufacturing principles and efficiency methods to drive operational improvements Experience leading the development of multi-skilled technician teams, including ownership of skills matrices and training plans Experience owning the creation and management of key maintenance metrics (Uptime, OEE, Mean Time to Repair) to drive data-based decisions Experience leading root cause analysis and owning the implementation of corrective and preventive actions that improve equipment reliability
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be willing to work all shifts, extended hours, and weekends as needed Must be able to work one or more of the following shifts:
AWS B Shift:
5:00am-5:30pm Wednesday-Saturday
AWS C Shift:
5:00pm-5:30am Sunday-Wednesday
Split Shift:
8:00am-8:00pm Sunday-Wednesday
Split Shift:
8:00am-8:00pm Wednesday-Saturday Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted Ability to lift, stand, climb, bend, grasp, sit, pull, push, stoop, stretch, and carry are generally required to perform the functions of this position
