A Maintenance Planner improves workforce productivity and work quality of a maintenance organization by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning, scheduling, and coordination of labor, parts and material, and equipment access. Reports to Maintenance Manager and maintains liaison between Operations and Maintenance. Through supervision of the Maintenance Administrator, the planner is also responsible for maintenance of records and files essential to meaningful analysis and reporting of maintenance-related matters.
Job Description The Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning and coordinating maintenance and reliability activities to support safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. This role develops detailed maintenance work plans, job packages, and schedules for routine, corrective, preventive, and outage-related work while ensuring resources, materials, tools, permits, and documentation are available for successful execution. The planner works closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Reliability, and Supply Chain teams to prioritize work, manage maintenance backlogs, coordinate manpower requirements, and support weekly, monthly, quarterly, and long-range maintenance schedules. Responsibilities include utilizing SAP and CMMS systems to create and manage work orders, maintain accurate maintenance records, track performance metrics, and ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements. The position also supports KPI reporting, schedule compliance analysis, budget planning, procedure development, and continuous improvement initiatives. Successful candidates should have experience in maintenance planning within industrial environments, strong knowledge of maintenance work management processes and best practices, proficiency with SAP S/4HANA and Microsoft Office applications, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate across multiple functional teams. Experience with scheduling software such as Prometheus, Primavera P6, or Microsoft Project is preferred.
