Position Summary The Maintenance Lead Technician is responsible for leading daily maintenance activities and providing hands-on technical support for all plant equipment and infrastructure. This position requires a highly skilled technician with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities, experience with industrial conveying systems, PLC controls, and bulk material handling equipment. The Maintenance Lead Technician serves as a working leader who coordinates maintenance activities, mentors technicians, ensures safe work practices, and helps maximize equipment reliability and plant uptime. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Leadership & Supervision Lead and coordinate daily maintenance activities and assigned work orders. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to maintenance technicians and contractors. Assist in planning and scheduling preventive and corrective maintenance activities. Ensure all maintenance work is performed safely and in compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and plant procedures. Support plant management in achieving reliability, production, and safety goals. Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, inspections, and repair documentation within the CMMS. Mechanical Maintenance Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain bulk material handling systems including: Belt conveyors Screw conveyors Bucket elevators Air slide conveying systems Cement domes and storage silos Dust collection systems Rotary valves and diverter gates Perform alignment, installation, repair, and replacement of bearings, gearboxes, motors, pulleys, sprockets, chains, couplings, and drive systems. Diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective actions to improve reliability. Support maintenance and repairs on Siwertell ship unloading systems. Troubleshoot and maintain Haver palletizers, stretch wrappers, and associated packaging equipment. Perform welding, fabrication, rigging, and equipment modifications as required. Electrical & Controls Maintenance Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems up to 480V. Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, ladder logic diagrams, and technical manuals. Troubleshoot motor control centers (MCCs), VFDs, soft starters, and industrial control systems. Maintain and troubleshoot PLC-based automation systems including: Siemens PLCs and HMI systems Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMI systems Diagnose communication issues involving Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Profinet, and industrial networks. Support instrumentation systems including level sensors, pressure transmitters, flow devices, proximity switches, and weighing systems. Assist with automation upgrades and continuous improvement projects. Reliability & Preventive Maintenance Execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Conduct inspections and condition monitoring of critical plant assets. Assist with vibration analysis, oil sampling, thermography, and equipment health assessments. Identify opportunities for improving equipment reliability and reducing downtime. Support root cause failure analysis and corrective action implementation. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Technical degree or industrial maintenance certification preferred. Minimum 7 years of industrial maintenance experience. Minimum 3 years of leadership or lead technician experience preferred. Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Experience with Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLC systems. Experience maintaining bulk material handling equipment and conveying systems. Experience working with bucket elevators, conveyors, air slides, silos, and ship unloadingequipment. Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical documentation. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Preferred Qualifications Experience in cement manufacturing, cement terminals, aggregate, mining, bulk materials, marine terminals, or heavy industrial environments. Experience maintaining Siwertell ship unloaders. Experience maintaining Haver palletizers and automated packaging systems. Welding and fabrication experience. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. Electrical license or industrial electrical certification. Physical Requirements Ability to work in industrial environments including exposure to dust, noise, vibration, and varying weather conditions. Ability to climb ladders, stairs, conveyors, bucket elevators, and silo structures. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces. Ability to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs as required. $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
