RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on all industrial equipment in plant including: Be available for startup in production to make sure that there are no issues. Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance on Motors, Gearboxes, Conveyors, Blenders, Mixers, Fillers, Cappers, etc. Be able to fabricate and repair equipment by using maintenance power tools equipment Grinders, Welders, Plasma Cutter, Torch, etc. Works safely and follows all SOP's on lock out of equipment. Maintains documentation of work order forms and completion of daily PM's. Supports general plant safety, food safety, food defense initiatives, good manufacturing practices, SQF and internal audits and product quality always. Participates in root cause problem solving & troubleshooting issues. Performs preventative, predictive, and proactive maintenance. Capable of overhauling most process systems and equipment to ensure optimal equipment up-time. Works cross-functionally with production and sanitation associates to provide effective maintenance support and to protect food safety and quality. Identifies potential cost savings and cost avoidance measures. Understands levels of line downtime caused by equipment issues. Be available to work weekends and holidays as necessary. Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

Must possess a valid 2nd Grade Stationary Engineer License issued by the City of Houston authorizing the operation of high-pressure and low-pressure steam boilers. - OR - Ability to successfully obtain the required license by passing the City of Houston exam within ninety (90) days of the hire date per the following requirements: Applicants for a second-grade stationary engineer's license shall present to the board service letters, or certified copies of same, showing that they have at least three years of hands-on boiler operating experience on boilers used to heat water or liquid for comfort heating or commercial processing purposes, or for generating steam or vapor by direct application of heat from combustible fuels or electricity; or a graduation certificate from an accredited engineering school, with at least one year of boiler operating experience on boilers used to heat water or liquid for comfort heating or commercial processing purposes, or for generating steam or vapor by direct application of heat from combustible fuels or electricity.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

Ability to train machine operators. Must be able to work varying days (including occasional weekends) and shifts in order to meet deadlines. Good communication skills; be able to communicate with floor personnel and senior management. Bilingual preferred; or ability to work with diverse group of personnel. Proficient in computer programs but not limited to Word and Excel.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Sit/stand for an extended period. Be able to work extended hours, including some evenings and weekends. Able to travel occasionally. Able to lift 25-50 pounds. Able to function in a fast-paced, office environment.
