This position works closely with Maintenance, Operations, Production, Sanitation, Quality Assurance, Safety, vendors, and contractors to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and according to company standards. The Maintenance Project Supervisor provides hands-on project coordination and technical oversight while ensuring that maintenance projects support equipment reliability, production efficiency, facility safety, and food safety requirements. Key Responsibilities Plan, coordinate, and supervise maintenance and facility improvement projects from initial planning through completion. Develop project scopes, schedules, timelines, and work plans. Coordinate projects around production and sanitation schedules to minimize disruption to operations. Supervise maintenance employees, contractors, and vendors working on assigned projects. Coordinate equipment installations, relocations, modifications, upgrades, and replacements. Oversee facility projects involving electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, conveyors, production equipment, and building systems. Review project requirements, drawings, equipment specifications, manuals, and installation instructions. Obtain and review vendor and contractor quotes as directed by management. Coordinate contractor access, work schedules, safety requirements, and site activities. Monitor project progress and communicate status, delays, risks, and completion dates to management. Ensure projects are completed according to approved scope, budget, quality standards, and schedule. Identify potential project risks and develop solutions to prevent delays or operational disruptions. Verify that materials, parts, tools, and equipment are available before work begins. Coordinate equipment shutdowns and production downtime required for project work. Ensure proper startup, testing, and commissioning of newly installed or modified equipment. Conduct project walkthroughs and verify completed work meets company requirements. Maintain project documentation, including schedules, work orders, drawings, inspection records, invoices, warranties, and completion documentation. Maintain accurate records of equipment modifications and facility improvements. Coordinate final cleanup and restoration of work areas following project completion. Work with the Maintenance Manager to transition completed projects into the preventive maintenance program. Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, energy efficiency, production capacity, and facility operations. Assist with developing annual maintenance and capital improvement plans. Support budgeting and cost tracking for maintenance projects. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Food Safety Responsibilities Because projects are performed within a food production environment, the Maintenance Project Supervisor must ensure that construction, installation, and repair activities do not compromise food safety.
Responsibilities include:
Follow and enforce company GMPs and food safety procedures. Coordinate project activities with Sanitation and Quality Assurance. Ensure equipment and construction materials are appropriate for the food production environment. Prevent contamination risks during construction and maintenance activities. Ensure proper protection of exposed product, ingredients, packaging, and food-contact surfaces. Ensure equipment and work areas are properly cleaned and restored following project work. Use food-grade materials and lubricants where required. Address sanitary design concerns associated with new equipment or facility modifications. Support food safety inspections and corrective actions related to maintenance projects. Contractor Management Coordinate contractor schedules and site access. Verify contractors follow company safety, food safety, and security requirements. Conduct or participate in contractor orientation and safety meetings. Monitor contractor performance and workmanship. Ensure required permits, insurance, documentation, and certifications are in place as applicable. Coordinate hot work, Lockout/Tagout, confined-space entry, elevated work, and other required safety procedures. Review completed contractor work and identify deficiencies requiring correction. Maintain records of contractor activities and project completion. Safety Responsibilities Promote a strong safety culture throughout all maintenance projects. Ensure employees and contractors follow applicable safety procedures. Enforce Lockout/Tagout requirements. Ensure proper PPE is used during project activities. Coordinate safety requirements for electrical work, hot work, confined spaces, elevated work, and other hazardous activities. Identify and correct unsafe conditions. Stop work when an immediate safety or food safety concern exists. Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions to management. Ensure work areas are properly secured and maintained throughout the project. Qualifications 3-5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, manufacturing, food production, facilities, construction, or a related field. Previous experience supervising maintenance projects, technicians, contractors, or vendors. Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting knowledge. Experience coordinating equipment installations, facility upgrades, or construction projects. Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, equipment manuals, and project documentation. Strong organizational and project-management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Strong communication and leadership skills. Ability to work effectively with contractors, vendors, maintenance personnel, and operations teams. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Ability to work flexible hours based on project requirements and production schedules.

Preferred Qualifications Experience in a food manufacturing, food processing, or food distribution environment. Experience with industrial equipment installation and commissioning. Experience with conveyors, packaging equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, electrical systems, or automated production equipment. Knowledge of GMPs, SSOPs, HACCP, and food safety requirements. Experience with CMMS systems. Experience with project scheduling and budget tracking. OSHA or other workplace safety training. Lockout/Tagout training. Experience managing outside contractors and construction projects. Knowledge of sanitary equipment design and food production facility requirements. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work at elevated locations when required. Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and work in tight or difficult-to-access areas. Ability to lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials. Ability to work around operating machinery and industrial equipment. Ability to work in refrigerated, cold, hot, wet, or humid environments. Ability to wear required PPE.
