We are seeking an experienced Automotive Service Advisor / Diagnostic Manager to oversee the daily workflow of our automotive repair facility. This position combines customer service, vehicle diagnostics, sales, estimating, parts procurement, technician coordination, and team leadership. The ideal applicant must hold a current Texas State Vehicle Inspector license and have strong automotive knowledge. You must be able to communicate effectively with customers and technicians, review inspection and diagnostic findings, prepare accurate repair estimates, order the correct parts, and manage jobs from vehicle check-in through completion. This is a sales-driven position with commission paid on services sold to customers. Success in this role requires honesty, organization, automotive expertise, strong follow-up skills, and the ability to turn legitimate vehicle needs into approved repair work. Key Responsibilities Greet customers, listen carefully to their concerns, and document accurate repair orders. Perform or assist with vehicle diagnostics and communicate findings clearly to customers. Review technicians' inspections, diagnostic results, and repair recommendations. Build complete and accurate estimates for parts, labor, fluids, fees, and recommended services. Present estimates professionally and explain repairs in clear, customer-friendly language. Follow up with customers to obtain repair authorizations and maximize legitimate sales opportunities. Earn commission on approved services sold to customers. Order parts from approved vendors and verify pricing, availability, quality, and delivery times. Confirm that all parts received are correct before technicians begin repairs. Coordinate closely with mechanics to prioritize work, assign jobs, and maintain an efficient workflow. Monitor each repair order from vehicle check-in through final inspection and customer delivery. Keep customers updated regarding diagnostic results, repair progress, pricing, and completion times. Manage technicians and service team members while maintaining productivity, professionalism, and accountability. Ensure Digital Vehicle Inspections are completed accurately and presented to customers. Perform Texas state inspections and ensure all inspection procedures comply with current state requirements. Review completed work for accuracy before closing repair orders. Maintain accurate records in the shop's point-of-sale and management systems. Handle customer concerns professionally and work toward fair, timely resolutions. Help achieve daily and monthly sales, productivity, and customer-service goals. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment. Ensure compliance with company procedures, safety requirements, and applicable regulations. Required Qualifications Current and valid Texas State Vehicle Inspector license. Previous experience as an Automotive Service Advisor, Diagnostic Advisor, Shop Foreman, Service Manager, or similar automotive position. Strong knowledge of automotive maintenance, mechanical repairs, diagnostics, parts, and labor procedures. Proven ability to build accurate repair estimates and present recommendations to customers. Experience ordering automotive parts and working with parts suppliers. Ability to understand diagnostic reports, technician notes, inspection findings, and labor guides. Experience coordinating and managing mechanics or automotive service teams. Strong sales ability without using high-pressure or misleading tactics. Excellent customer-service, communication, and conflict-resolution skills. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple repair orders simultaneously. Comfortable using automotive shop-management software, estimating systems, parts-ordering platforms, and digital inspection tools. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to work in a fast-paced automotive repair environment. Preferred Qualifications ASE certifications or advanced automotive training. Hands-on automotive diagnostic or mechanical experience. Experience with AutoLeap, PartsTech, AllData, ProDemand, Identifix, or similar platforms. Bilingual or multilingual communication skills. Previous experience managing sales goals, technician productivity, scheduling, and customer retention. Compensation This position includes competitive base compensation plus commission on approved services sold to customers. Compensation will be based on automotive experience, diagnostic knowledge, leadership ability, and sales performance.
