Job Duties:

Supervises and participates in plumbing, water, general maintenance, and construction projects.

Schedules preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance work.

Inspects completed work to ensure quality and compliance with safety requirements.

Coordinates assignments with other supervisors to make efficient use of staff, materials, and equipment.

Estimates the labor hours, materials, supplies, and resources needed for projects.

Submits requisitions and maintains reports and repair records.

Trains and supervises inmate maintenance and construction workers.

Ensures work complies with applicable safety rules, regulations, and standards.

Maintains the security and accountability of assigned inmates.

Performs other duties as assigned.

You'd be a GOOD fit if:

You have a high school diploma or GED.You have at least two years of paid plumbing or pipefitting experience.

You understand plumbing, pipefitting, and general maintenance procedures.

You can organize assignments, estimate project needs, and maintain accurate records.

You understand annual boiler inspection requirements.

You can work independently and make sound decisions.

You can maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure.

You are willing and able to obtain and maintain the required TCEQ licenses.

You'd be a GREAT fit if:

You completed an accredited plumbing or pipefitting trade, technical, or military training program and have related work experience.

You already hold a TCEQ water or groundwater license.

You have experience supervising maintenance or construction crews.

You have experience training and supervising inmate workers.

You can handle preventive, corrective, and emergency plumbing repairs.

You understand water systems, boilers, plumbing codes, and inspection requirements.

You are safety-focused, dependable, organized, and able to manage several projects at once.

Education and Experience AlternativesThirty college semester hours, including six hours in a related technology field, may substitute for up to one year of experience.

Completion of an accredited plumbing or pipefitting trade program, along with 18 months of related experience, may qualify.

Completion of a related U.S. military technical training program, along with 18 months of plumbing or pipefitting experience, may qualify.

Required Licensing TimelineObtain a TCEQ Class D Water license within one year of employment.

Obtain a TCEQ Class C Groundwater license within 32 months of employment.

Maintain all required licenses as a condition of continued employmentTravel None
