Job Description

Job Overview The Maintenance Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating the maintenance activities required to keep manufacturing equipment, production systems, and facility infrastructure operating safely, reliably, and efficiently. This position provides day-to-day leadership to maintenance personnel and works closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Safety to minimize equipment downtime and improve overall equipment reliability. The ideal candidate has strong experience with industrial maintenance, electrical and mechanical systems, PLCs, HMIs, automated production equipment, sensors, motor controls, VFDs, and troubleshooting of industrial control systems . The Maintenance Lead should be a hands-on leader who can diagnose problems, develop maintenance strategies, coach technicians, and prioritize work based on safety and production requirements. Guide and direct other maintenance technicians on daily duties and tasks. Complete all building and equipment maintenance, along with preventative/periodic maintenance on all machinery. Position requires the employee to be self-motivated and able to work with little or no supervision. Responsibilities Principal Duties and Accountabilities (

•Essential Functions) Must lead and give directions to all maintenance personnel. This includes, but is not limited to assisting the Area Supervisor with scheduling vacations, employee reviews, organizing work schedules, disciplinary procedures, etc. Assign daily maintenance work based on production priorities, equipment condition, technician skill level, and safety requirements. Provide technical guidance and hands-on support when troubleshooting complex equipment problems. Establish clear expectations for preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities. Monitor maintenance performance, work completion, equipment downtime, and response times. Train, coach, and develop maintenance personnel to improve technical skills and troubleshooting capabilities. Participate in hiring, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and employee development as needed. Troubleshoot industrial automation systems involving PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, motor controls, sensors, actuators, relays, and industrial communication networks. Oversee PLC and HMI troubleshooting to identify faults and restore equipment operation. Understand PLC input/output (I/O), ladder logic, alarms, interlocks, permissives, and sequence-of-operation concepts. Troubleshoot HMI alarms, equipment status screens, communication faults, and control-system issues. Coordinate with controls engineers, automation specialists, OEMs, and outside contractors when advanced programming or controls support is required. Maintain appropriate documentation for PLC programs, HMI configurations, electrical schematics, and equipment settings. Ensure changes to PLC/HMI programs and control-system parameters are properly documented and managed. Oversee troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated manufacturing equipment. Troubleshoot and repair motors, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, pumps, compressors, valves, cylinders, actuators, and other industrial equipment. Troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems including control panels, motor starters, VFDs, contactors, relays, sensors, and safety circuits. Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and technical documentation. Coordinate outside contractors and specialized service providers when required. Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive maintenance (PM) programs. Ensure scheduled PM activities are completed accurately and on time. Maintain accurate maintenance records and equipment history. Promote a strong safety culture and ensure maintenance activities are performed in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations. Ensure proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures are followed before maintenance work begins. Ensure technicians are properly trained and qualified for the work they perform. Support electrical safety, machine guarding, confined-space, fall-protection, and other applicable safety programs. Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions when necessary. Ensure maintenance work complies with applicable OSHA requirements and company safety standards. Work closely with Production Supervisors and Managers to respond to equipment failures and minimize production downtime. Prioritize emergency repairs while maintaining focus on long-term equipment reliability. Recommend equipment improvements, modifications, and replacement projects based on reliability and maintenance history. Maintain appropriate levels of critical spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies. Assist with maintenance budgeting, parts forecasting, and capital equipment planning. Maintain current equipment documentation, manuals, electrical drawings, PLC backups, HMI backups, and maintenance procedures

Technical degree, industrial maintenance certificate, or related education preferred. 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Previous supervisory, lead technician, or maintenance leadership experience. Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills. Working knowledge of PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment. Experience troubleshooting HMIs and industrial control systems. Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings. Experience with VFDs, motors, sensors, relays, contactors, and industrial control panels. Strong understanding of preventive maintenance principles. Electrical troubleshooting experience up to industrial control-panel level. PLC programming or troubleshooting experience. Experience with root-cause analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement methodologies. Strong leadership and team-building skills. Excellent mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability. Ability to diagnose problems logically and systematically. Ability to work effectively under production pressure. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance issues simultaneously. Strong attention to detail and documentation. Ability to train and develop maintenance technicians.
