United States, Virginia, Charlottesville 1215 Lee Street (Show on map) Aug 05, 2026 Landscape Maintenance Supervisor The Facilities Management (FM) Landscape Services department is seeking a Landscape Maintenance Supervisor to join their team! Each Supervisor responsible for a designated Maintenance Zone ensuring service and quality standards meet the level called for by our Landscape Management Plan. This is accomplished by overseeing the day-to-day activities of their team through efficient coordination of staff assignments, continuous inspections, and scheduling corrective and renewal projects with other members of the department. This position supports Facilities Management's goal of providing consistent, cost effective, and reliable maintenance and service to University Grounds. Landscape Supervisors develop and sustain positive working relationships through tactful and constructive in-person and written communication skills. As part of the management team, Supervisors must be proficient technology users, able to navigate essential UVA systems and email on a computer, tablet, and/or smart phone. UVA FM's Landscape Services department is tasked with maintaining nearly 1,200 total acres of Grounds with over 300 being intensely managed space. Responsibilities include care of elaborate botanical gardens, thousands of trees, multiple storm water ponds and basins, large areas of turf, collecting litter and supporting countless University events to just name a few. The overarching task for the department is ensuring that the Grounds of the University are safe, and healthy using sustainable landscape management practices. Facilities Management supports the University of Virginia's wide range of academic, research, and patient care programs. With nearly 1,200 employees, Facilities Management incorporates the values of respect, integrity, stewardship, and collaboration into its service operations and internal programs. The organization is dedicated to service excellence and is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair, and maintenance of UVA's buildings, infrastructure, and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties. Responsibilities Inspect Grounds, prioritize tasks, assign work to crews, and provide feedback.
Plan and oversee HR functions, including hiring and performance evaluations.
Estimate labor, material, and equipment costs.
Maintain workplace safety, ensure compliance with policies, and participate in OSHA programs.
Record and track work using computer and mobile applications.
Manage landscape maintenance operations, including weed control, leaf/debris removal, pruning, storm water, mulching, watering, etc
Supervise 6 - 10 staff members to ensure healthy, well-maintained, safe landscapes
Oversee contracted landscape maintenance services
Coordinate snow and ice removal efforts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
