Job Description

Assumption BVM Parish and School seeks someone who takes pride in their work, pays attention to details, works independently, and enjoys contributing to a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our parish and school community. A positive attitude, reliability, and a commitment to excellence are essential. Duties and Responsibilities Perform general maintenance and repair work, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC systems, boilers, ventilation systems, roofing, painting, kitchen equipment, playground equipment, and other building systems. Inspect buildings and grounds regularly to identify maintenance, repair, safety, and cleanliness needs. Implement preventative maintenance schedules to extend the life of building systems and equipment. Maintain maintenance records and documentation. Respond promptly to facility emergencies and urgent repair needs. Oversee and maintain all campus grounds. Perform and/or coordinate lawn care, landscaping, snow removal, and ice control. Ensure playgrounds, sidewalks, parking lots, and outdoor spaces are safe and well maintained. Work with volunteers and vendors as appropriate. Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and applicable to federal, state, and local regulations. Maintain a safe environment for students, parishioners, staff, and visitors. Participate in facility inspections with insurance representatives, safety officials, and regulatory agencies. Assist with emergency preparedness and response planning. Coordinate contractors, service providers, and vendors. Obtain quotes and evaluate service proposals. Monitor facility-related projects from planning through completion. Ensure work is completed properly, safely, and within budget. Coordinate facility set-up and clean-up for parish, school, and community events. Assist with facility preparations for special liturgical celebrations, school activities, and parish functions. Manage custodial and maintenance supply inventories. Ensure adequate stock of necessary materials and equipment. Maintain organized storage and work areas. Attend parish and school meetings as needed. Complete and maintain VIRTUS compliance and successfully pass required background checks. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Requirements Be at least 21 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Hold a current, valid driver's license. Be physically capable of lifting and moving items weighing up to 50 pounds. Be comfortable spending most of the workday standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, crawling in confined spaces, and working from ladders when needed. Be able to safely work with cleaning products and maintenance chemicals and tolerate exposure to dust, odors, and routine building maintenance conditions. Have basic computer skills, including the ability to use email, internet applications, word processing documents, spreadsheets, and manufacturer instructions or manuals. Successfully complete VIRTUS training/application requirements and pass all required background checks in accordance with diocesan policies.
