Job Description

Lead Maintenance Technician Luxury Vacation Homes | Pool & Spa Systems $38-$45 per hour | Full-Time W-2 | Generally 35-40 Hours per
Week Primary Service Area:
Sheboygan and Manitowoc Counties Paid pool and spa certification provided. Prior pool or hot-tub experience is not required. An Unusually High-Ownership Technical Opportunity Wisconsin Getaways is hiring an exceptional mechanical problem-solver to help protect some of Wisconsin's most distinctive luxury vacation homes—and become the technical owner of our growing pool and spa program. This opportunity is designed for someone who is mechanically strong, resourceful, accountable and naturally wants to understand why something failed , not simply patch the visible symptom. Strong candidates may come from residential or commercial maintenance, facilities engineering, HVAC, industrial maintenance, appliance repair, plumbing, pumps and controls, field service, construction, water treatment or another hands-on technical field. We can teach pools, spas, water chemistry and our operating systems. Mechanical aptitude, judgment, craftsmanship and ownership are much harder to teach. Why This Role Stands Out This is not repetitive apartment maintenance, a routine pool-cleaning route or a basic handyman position. Wisconsin Getaways manages more than 30 luxury and experiential vacation homes that operate more like private resorts.
Our properties include:
Indoor and outdoor pools Hot tubs and saunas Pumps, heaters, filtration and water systems Movie theaters and commercial-style arcades Smart locks, controls, sensors and monitoring systems High-end appliances and kitchens Waterfront and outdoor amenities Complex residential mechanical systems You may troubleshoot a pool heater one day, diagnose an appliance or plumbing issue the next, repair a door before a guest arrival and remotely review hot-tub water quality later that afternoon. Interesting systems. High ownership. Premium properties. Real impact. This is a hands-on technical leadership role, not a people-management position today. You will lead through judgment, standards, coordination, communication and complete follow-through. Compensation and Support $38-$45 per hour , based on demonstrated experience and technical capability Overtime paid when applicable Generally 35-40 hours per week , with meaningful daily and seasonal variation 80 hours of paid vacation annually , subject to company policy and scheduling approval Up to 40 additional hours of pre-approved unpaid vacation annually Wisconsin Getaways-paid Certified Pool & Spa Operator training Paid required training time Paid compensable travel between work locations Reimbursement for approved business mileage $50 monthly phone stipend Company-provided work laptop Company-provided pool/spa testing equipment and specialty tools Required specialty protective equipment and approved rentals provided Property parts, materials, chemicals and supplies provided Shared technical and after-hours support—you are not the company's solo 24/7 responder Meaningful growth opportunity as Wisconsin Getaways expands its pool, spa and property-systems operations Wisconsin Getaways does not currently provide employer-sponsored health insurance, retirement contributions, paid holidays or a company vehicle.
Target start date:
As soon as September 7, 2026 What You Will Own Wisconsin Getaways currently operates 9 pools and 21 hot tubs—and that number is growing. After completing training and demonstrating competency, you will become our primary technical owner for pool and hot-tub reliability while continuing to perform broad property maintenance. The role is expected to be approximately: 50% pool, hot-tub and related water-system work 50% general property maintenance and technical service You will not personally perform every routine hot-tub test or cleaning. Cleaning partners handle established onsite turnover testing. You own the technical review, verification, troubleshooting, escalation, documentation and higher-level service. Pool and Spa Technical Ownership You will: Review cleaner-submitted onsite water-test results, photographs, water condition and supporting information Provide exact approved chemical-adjustment instructions Review required retests before determining whether an amenity is ready for guest use Determine when a pool or hot tub requires another correction, must remain unavailable or needs onsite technical service Document final water-quality signoff, exceptions and follow-up in Breezeway Troubleshoot pumps, heaters, filters, circulation, flow, sensors, controllers, covers, valves and related equipment Identify recurring chemistry or equipment issues and solve the underlying cause Perform onsite testing, preventive maintenance, seasonal service and equipment work within your training and legal scope Maintain organized equipment, chemical, testing and service records Coordinate manufacturer, licensed-trade or specialty support when a condition exceeds your scope Verify that outside service restored the system correctly before closing the task How Remote Hot-Tub Review Works During assigned coverage periods, cleaning partners perform the physical onsite test and submit the required results through Quo, our maintenance communication system.
You will:
Review the initial result, photograph, water condition and supporting information. Provide the exact approved product and quantity when an adjustment is required. Review the cleaner's required retest. Determine whether the hot tub is approved, requires another correction, must remain unavailable or needs onsite service. Complete the final Breezeway record and initiate required follow-up. During assigned coverage periods, these reviews generally require a response within approximately 15 minutes. Cleaners do not guess at chemical treatment. You own the technical decision, verification, final disposition and documented closeout. General Property Maintenance and Diagnostics Approximately half of the role will involve broader maintenance across Wisconsin Getaways properties. You may diagnose and resolve issues involving: Plumbing fixtures, toilets, faucets, drains, valves, leaks and water heaters Pumps, thermostats, ventilation and practical first-response HVAC symptoms Lighting, switches, outlets, GFCIs, batteries and practical electrical troubleshooting Appliances and kitchen equipment Doors, locks, windows, screens, hinges and hardware Furniture, cabinetry, drywall, paint, trim and finish components Smart locks, Wi-Fi, routers, thermostats, leak sensors, cameras and noise monitors Televisions, theaters, audio systems, arcades and guest-facing controls Grills, fire features, exterior fixtures and specialty amenities You are not expected to be a licensed expert in every trade.
Strong judgment means knowing:
What is actually wrong What you can safely and professionally solve How to verify that the repair worked When a licensed or specialty provider is the better answer Preventive Maintenance and Reliability The best maintenance call is the one a guest never needs to make.
You will help:
Identify developing failures before they affect a reservation Complete preventive and seasonal maintenance Investigate repeated problems and recommend permanent solutions Maintain critical spare parts, chemicals and supplies Prepare systems for Wisconsin weather and seasonal conditions Keep mechanical rooms and service areas clean and organized Document equipment, controls, shutoffs, model numbers and known failure modes Standardize systems and replacement parts where practical Use lower-demand periods to complete preventive work, property audits, documentation and maintenance backlogs Our goal is simple: Make pools, hot tubs and other critical property systems boringly reliable. Guest-Impacting and After-Hours Service Luxury hospitality does not operate on a conventional office schedule. You will participate in a shared maintenance-phone and emergency-response rotation with Wisconsin Getaways' Operations Team and other technical providers.
This may include:
Remotely triaging guest-impacting maintenance concerns Reviewing pool, spa, access, leak, temperature, power or equipment alerts Determining whether an issue requires remote instructions, onsite response, temporary mitigation or specialty escalation Coordinating another technician when that is the better solution Communicating realistic timing and clear next steps Completing required documentation and follow-up You will have meaningful ownership, but you will not be expected to serve as the company's sole 24/7 responder. Schedule and Work Structure This is a full-time hourly position generally averaging 35-40 hours per week . It is not a traditional Monday-through-Friday, 9-to-5 job. Vacation-rental maintenance follows guest stays, turnovers, weather, seasonality, preventive-maintenance needs and property conditions. Some days may involve a long field route or an urgent active-stay issue. Other days may be shorter and focused on remote review, preventive maintenance, documentation, inventory or planning.
The position includes:
A required, paid remote shift every Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Participation in a shared maintenance-phone and emergency-response rotation Occasional early-morning, evening, weekend and holiday responsibilities Occasional overtime when operationally necessary Occasional scheduled statewide assignments Longer days that may be balanced with shorter days when operations allow All active work—including remote reviews, calls, messages, troubleshooting, documentation and follow-up—must be accurately recorded. Vehicle, Travel and Tools A company vehicle is not provided.
You must provide:
A reliable, properly insured personal vehicle suitable for mobile property service A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record A smartphone Ordinary hand tools Common power tools normally expected of an experienced maintenance technician Wisconsin Getaways provides or reimburses approved: Pool and spa testing instruments Specialty diagnostic equipment Manufacturer-specific tools Unusual or property-specific equipment Required specialty protective equipment Approved equipment rentals Property parts, materials, chemicals and supplies Compensable travel between work locations is paid at your regular hourly rate. Approved business mileage is reimbursed under the Wisconsin Getaways mileage policy. Normal travel from home to the first local work location and from the final local work location home is not generally paid or reimbursed. Who We Want You may be a strong fit if you have: Exceptional mechanical aptitude A methodical diagnostic approach Broad hands-on maintenance, facilities, construction, residential-service or technical-trade experience Practical familiarity with plumbing, electrical, HVAC, pumps, appliances, controls or related systems High ownership and dependable follow-through Pride in craftsmanship and professional finish quality Comfort working independently Professional communication inside occupied, high-value homes Comfort using mobile work orders, photographs, Quo, Breezeway, remote dashboards and time tracking The judgment and humility to escalate when another specialist is the right answer Three or more years of relevant hands-on experience is preferred, but demonstrated capability matters more than a specific job title. Direct pool or spa experience is valuable, but it is not the deciding factor. Backgrounds That May Translate Well Strong candidates may come from: Hotel, resort, private-club or facilities engineering Industrial maintenance HVAC or refrigeration Pumps, controls or building automation Appliance repair Electrical, low-voltage, plumbing or water systems Residential construction or remodeling Property maintenance Pool, hot-tub, spa or water-treatment service Smart-home, networking or audiovisual systems Other technical field-service roles Do not rule yourself out because you have not previously held a pool or spa title. A mechanically strong, highly accountable technician who wants to learn may be more successful than an experienced pool technician who lacks broad diagnostic ability or ownership. Physical and Field Requirements The position requires the ability to perform the essential functions of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation, including: Lifting and carrying approximately 50 pounds Using ladders and stairs Kneeling, bending, crawling, reaching and working in mechanical spaces Working indoors and outdoors in Wisconsin weather Driving between properties and service locations Safely handling approved pool and spa chemicals after training Working around water, heat, humidity, snow, ice, dust and normal maintenance conditions Entering occupied homes professionally and discreetly What Success Looks Like You will be successful when: Pools, hot tubs and critical property systems operate safely and reliably Water-quality reviews and signoffs are accurate, documented and completed on time Unsafe or out-of-standard amenities are restricted before affecting guests Preventive maintenance is completed consistently Repeat failures decline because root causes are addressed Guest-impacting issues are handled calmly, safely and professionally Repairs are clean, durable, tested and appropriate for a luxury home Breezeway records, photographs, time, mileage, receipts and closeout notes are complete Operations leaders receive proactive communication rather than surprises The portfolio becomes more reliable because of the systems and documentation you create About Wisconsin Getaways Wisconsin Getaways is a founder-led luxury hospitality company managing more than 20 distinctive vacation homes across Wisconsin.
