Advanced skilled work in maintaining and repairing water meters, water lines and mains, servicing water lines, and other manual laboring tasks. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Supervisor / Crew Leader / Water Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Installs, repairs, maintains, and changes out water meters. Flushes, installs, relocates and repairs fire hydrants. Installs, repairs, and maintain s valves exercise program. Installs water services, taps, meters, backflow devices. Repair and install water main lines. Repairs water leaks. Check low water pressure. Replace meter boxes. Read meters on a substitute basis for a meter reader. Installs back-flow prevention devices. Provides water main and service locations. Installs and maintains irrigation system. Performs all work found in the Maintenance Worker classification. Operates heavy equipment. Maintains Inventory System Assist when needed to work with the Utility Inspector/Coordinator on construction projects under the direction of the Supervisor or Water Manager. Maintains a FDEP Water Distribution License Provides assistance in line locates for the utility department Must be available to work in the event of a disaster to assist with recovery response efforts. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS

AND ABILITIES

Ability to operate heavy equipment. Knowledge of the materials, methods, practices , and equipment used in the water field. Ability to work from sketches, maps, and blueprints. Ability to work rotating shifts including weekend duty, and emergency callout. Ability to establish working relationships with other employees and the general public Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to perform heavy manual labor. Basic mathematical skills. Skill in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications. Ability to operate computer work order system. Basic computer knowledge of Office 365 and email.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. One (1) year experience in the water and maintenance field. (A comparable amount of training, education, or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS

Valid Florida Class "B" CDL— (6 mo. from date hired) Traffic Work Zone Safety Certificate Class "C" Distribution License (obtain one year from date of hire)
