Job Description
Overview The City of Tallahassee is seeking a Meter Service Technician to join our Utility Business and Customer Support team. This is a fieldwork position responsible for connecting, disconnecting, and maintaining water, gas, and electric service for residential and commercial customers throughout the Tallahassee service area. Responsibilities Connect and disconnect water, gas, and electric service for new and existing customers, including interruptions for non-payment and administrative requests Read, test, and change out utility meters, reset breakers, and perform minor repairs to electric meter bases Respond to gas leak calls and support safe, reliable utility operations Investigate meter tampering and damage, and testify on behalf of the City in court when required Obtain account information from customers and coordinate with Utility Accounts personnel to maintain accurate records Set water meters during nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to maintain uninterrupted service This role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to develop their technical skills while making a tangible impact on community infrastructure.
