Job Summary The Field Technician I will work in the field for most of their day and will be responsible for the accurate and timely collection of data from residential and commercial customer locations, assisting with the maintenance & repairs of water/ wastewater systems, and creating/ assisting with work orders. Responsibilities Review service orders to determine locations where meter readings need to be performed Read water meters and enter data in route logs Maintains required paperwork and logs in compliance with Federal, State and local rules andregulations Inspect meters and connections to determine defects, faults and damages Under direct supervision, repairs and/or replaces broken water mains and service lines, maintains& assists with minor repairs of the water/ wastewater systems Communicate problems with meters or incorrect readings to the Project Manager Operates a company vehicle to conduct meter readings for assigned route Connect and disconnect utility services as directed Ensure that all data in the utility log book is maintained correctly, and kept updated Perform general landscape maintenance including mowing, trimming, clean-ups, pruning, andother typical landscape maintenance tasks Performs other related duties as directed Job Qualifications High school diploma or GED Valid driver's license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Records are required Entry-level, 1+ years' experience in the water/ wastewater, public works, maintenance orservicing industry is preferred Ability and willingness to work independently Ability to understand water systems and concepts Strong attention to detail Ability to perform sustained physical labor, including heavy lifting and working above your head and below your feet Neat and clean in appearance, courteous and friendly with the general public and willing to be a part of a team Must be available to work overtime and 'on-call' as needed
