The City of Fort Lauderdale is seeking a skilled individual to oversee the installations, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment at the Fiveash Water Treatment Plant. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a vibrant city known for its beautiful beaches and lively culture. Essential Job Functions
Lead and direct the work of crew members, including training and guidance.
Participate in the installation, maintenance, and repair of pumps, motors, and other machinery.
Inspect mechanical equipment and make maintenance recommendations.
Operate power tools and large mobile equipment like boom trucks and forklifts.
Perform welding, brazing, soldering, minor carpentry, and painting.
Submit work activity reports and maintain tools and equipment.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standard operating procedures.
Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and manufacturer's data sheets.
Troubleshoot problems and make recommendations.
Respond to off-duty emergency call-ins as needed.
Requirements
High school diploma, trade school graduation, or G.E.D. from a recognized institution.
Three to five years of experience in mechanical maintenance and repair work.
Ability to exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 20 lbs. constantly.
Ability to lift, stoop, bend, crawl, kneel, and climb ladders up to 30 feet.
Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
Preferences
