Full Job Description Overview:
A millwright is a highly skilled industrial mechanic who installs, maintains, repairs, and dismantles machinery and equipment in factories, power plants, refineries, and other industrial settings. Millwrights work with precision tools, blueprints, and measuring instruments to ensure machines operate efficiently and safely. it's okay if you don't have many of the skills as millwright has, we have a lot of onsite training.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation:
Assemble, align, and install industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to specifications and blueprints.
Maintenance & Repair:
Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and repair or replace defective parts.
Alignment & Calibration:
Use precision measuring tools (e.g., laser alignment systems, dial indicators) to align shafts, bearings, and gears.
Fabrication & Welding:
Modify or fabricate machine parts when replacements are unavailable.
Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals to guide installation and repairs.
Rigging & Moving Equipment:
Use cranes, hoists, and rigging gear to safely move heavy machinery into place.
Skills & Qualifications:
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents. Knowledge of welding, machining, and hydraulics. Physical strength and stamina for lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces. Typically requires completion of an apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
