Job Description
HVAC Site Superintendent My client is seeking an experienced HVAC/R Commercial Lead Installer to manage and execute commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning installation projects. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of running assigned projects independently from start to finish, managing job site labor, reading mechanical plans, and delivering high-quality commercial installs on schedule and within budget.
Essential Duties:
Lead and manage daily field operations for assigned commercial HVAC/R installation projects. Run jobs independently once delegated by the Project Manager. Direct, train, and supervise apprentice installers and helper technicians on-site. Coordinate layout, sequence of operations, and daily milestone goals for the crew. Install commercial mechanical equipment including RTUs, split systems, VRF/VRV systems, chillers, boilers, exhaust fans, and commercial refrigeration equipment (walk-in coolers/freezers, rack systems). Fabricate, assemble, and hang sheet metal ductwork, duct accessories, and air distribution devices. Run and connect refrigerant piping, gas lines, condensate drain lines, and control wiring. Perform equipment start-up, leak testing, evacuation, charging, and system balancing. Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, submittals, specifications, control schematics, and shop drawings. Coordinate with General Contractors, Electricians, Plumbers, and other trades on-site to resolve field conflicts. Identify field changes early and communicate required Request for Information (RFI) or Change Order details to the PM. Familiar with ProCore project management software Maintain strict adherence to local mechanical codes, OSHA safety standards, and company safety policies. Manage job site inventory, order required materials/fittings ahead of time, and prevent job delays. Complete required job logs, daily field reports, commissioning sheets, and punch list items efficiently.Requirements:
Highschool Diploma or equivalent preferred 8+ years of commercial HVAC/R installation experience; minimum 5+ years leading/running commercial jobs. Valid EPA Universal Certification required; Journeyman or Master Mechanical license preferred. Advanced proficiency in sheet metal installation, pipefitting, brazing, gas piping, and low/line voltage control wiring. Strong communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills with the ability to lead a crew. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, work on ladders/scaffolding/roofs, and operate power tools and heavy lifting equipment (forklifts, scissor lifts, cranes).
