Job Description
Join Our Team AMG Resources is seeking an experienced Millwright / Industrial Maintenance Technician to support our scrap metal recycling and processing operations in St. Paul, Minnesota. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing industrial processing equipment, including conveyors, gearboxes, motors, bearings, hydraulic systems, and other stationary plant equipment. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in an industrial, manufacturing, recycling, aggregate, or material processing environment and can safely perform mechanical repairs that keep production equipment operating efficiently. Position Summary The Millwright / Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing both stationary plant equipment and heavy equipment used in scrap yard operations. This role is critical to ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting safe and efficient operations throughout the facility. Key Responsibilities Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain stationary plant equipment. Install, maintain, and repair conveyor systems and material handling equipment. Replace and repair gearboxes, bearings, rollers, pulleys, chains, belts, motors, and other mechanical components. Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and complete necessary repairs. Perform preventative maintenance on processing equipment to reduce downtime and improve reliability. Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and perform timely repairs. Conduct daily equipment inspections and complete maintenance documentation. Perform maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment including cranes, excavators, loaders, and material handlers as needed. Assist with welding, cutting, and fabrication projects. Work closely with operators and yard personnel to identify equipment concerns and improve performance. Maintain accurate maintenance records and report repair needs. Ensure all work is completed in compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Maintain tools and work areas in a clean and organized condition. Assist with general facility and yard maintenance as needed. Qualifications Previous experience as a Millwright, Industrial Maintenance Technician, Industrial Mechanic, Maintenance Mechanic, or similar role. Experience replacing and repairing gearboxes, bearings, motors, conveyor systems, and other stationary plant equipment. Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of hydraulics, power transmission systems, and industrial equipment. Experience troubleshooting mechanical equipment failures and performing root-cause analysis. Welding and fabrication experience preferred. Heavy equipment maintenance experience is a plus. Ability to read equipment manuals, parts diagrams, and basic schematics. Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve independently. Strong attention to safety and detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical and Work Requirements Ability to work outdoors and indoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work on elevated platforms. Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic equipment. Ability to work around heavy equipment and moving machinery. Work Environment Scrap metal recycling and processing facility.
