We are currently looking for a experienced skilled mechanic to join our team, learn our equipment and continue to grow with us. What We Do SMS group is the leading partner in the world of metals. Duties and Responsibilities Perform mechanical duties on equipment as instructed Disassemble, repair/recondition with precision, assemble and test equipment Perform fabrication of lightweight apparatus and/or structures used in the maintenance of equipment Interface with project management, engineers, technical personnel and other staff as needed to complete projects. Perform housekeeping and maintenance activities as required Provide any additional support where needed Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Job Qualifications 3-5 years of experience with refurbishment / reconditioning on parts in a job shop or similar environment is requiredKnowledge of and prior experience in disassembly and assembly of mechanical parts is requiredKnowledge of and prior experience in the use of hand and power tools is requiredAbility to read prints and drawings is preferred but not required K nowledge of and prior experience in overhead crane and lift trucks, including hoisting and rigging techniques is preferred but required Ability to follow step-by-step procedures with precision and accuracy is required Experience with heavy mechanical assemblies is preferred Knowledge of machining and fabrication methods preferred Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic & piping systems preferred Knowledge of electrical systems (wiring motors and small panels) preferred Understanding of blast furnace equipment is a plus Candidate must have good interpersonal and communication skills
