Job Description

The Millwright is a highly motivated tradesman working in theComact Technologies division. As a key team member of the production team, you will be involved primarily in fine-tuning of highly integrated complex electro-mechanical systems; i.e. hydraulic, pneumatic controls, scanning and other sub-systems designed by Comact. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assemble, install, and test sawmill equipment, including conveyors, debarkers, chippers, and saw systems.
  • Perform precise alignments, calibrations, and adjustments to ensure equipment meets quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems during assembly and testing.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals for proper equipment setup.
  • Fabricate, weld, and modify components as needed to meet custom specifications.
  • Use hoists, cranes, and rigging equipment to position and install heavy machinery.
  • Conduct quality control checks to ensure equipment meets performance and safety standards.
  • Provide technical support to customers during installation, commissioning, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Work closely with engineers and production teams to improve equipment design and functionality.
  • Maintain accurate assembly and maintenance records.
  • Adhere to all workplace safety regulations and company policies. Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a millwright, preferably in industrial machinery manufacturing.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with expertise in assembling and maintaining complex machinery.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics.
  • Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Welding and fabrication skills are an asset.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.
  • Comfortable working with heavy equipment and using rigging techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control.
  • Ability to travel for on-site equipment installations if required.
  • Millwright certification or relevant technical training preferred.
  • Experience in a Sawmill industry is an asset.
  • Have a strong verbal and written communication skill with competent computer skills; Word, Excel, and Email.

$25.00 - $35.00 per hour
