Machine Skilled Technician Job Description The Machine Skilled Technician plays a key role in the manufacturing process by operating, setting up, and maintaining high-speed production equipment. In this role, you use your mechanical and technical expertise to keep machines running efficiently, perform repairs and preventive maintenance, and ensure that all equipment operates safely and consistently to meet production and quality standards. Responsibilities Operate a variety of manufacturing equipment, including high-speed presses, assembly machines, metal stamping equipment, injection molding machines, and packaging equipment. Complete preventive maintenance on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines to ensure reliable operation. Observe mechanical devices in operation, listen for unusual sounds, and use precision measuring and testing instruments to locate sources of mechanical problems. Inspect used parts using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments to determine changes in dimensional requirements and identify wear or defects. Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using appropriate hand and power tools to restore proper operation. Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform corrective maintenance and repairs as needed to minimize downtime. Perform machine setup, changeovers, and adjustments, including working with servo motors, drives, gears, and pneumatic cylinders, to support high-speed manufacturing operations. Handle products and components for a significant portion of the shift in order to perform detailed quality inspections. Lubricate, replace like parts, and perform routine upkeep on machines, including legacy metals equipment such as Bruderer presses and fast conveyor systems with small parts. Work across multiple operations, including coating areas and other production zones, to support different processes as needed. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area, following all safety procedures and using required personal protective equipment. Monitor production output to ensure safety, quality, and productivity targets are met. Use systems such as SAP and HMI interfaces to support production, maintenance activities, and machine operation. Support both planned preventive maintenance and reactive maintenance activities, with an approximate mix of 85% operations and 15% maintenance work. Essential Skills Minimum of 2+ years of mechanical experience working with fast-paced production machinery. Proven mechanical troubleshooting skills, including the ability to diagnose and resolve issues with motors, drives, gears, pneumatics, hydraulics, and conveyor systems. Experience with machine setup, changeovers, and adjustments on high-speed manufacturing equipment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and basic technical documentation. Ability to read and write and apply basic mathematics in a production environment. Competence in using hand tools and precision measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, and micrometers for repair and inspection tasks. Ability to handle products and components for up to 90% of the shift while performing quality inspections. Ability to walk, stand, stoop, or bend for up to 100% of the shift in a production environment. Experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance, including lubrication, part replacement, and general machine upkeep. Comfort working with pumps and fast conveyor systems that handle small parts. Ability to work across multiple operations and areas, including coating operations with several distinct zones. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with legacy metals equipment such as Bruderer presses. Familiarity with servo motors, HMI interfaces, and high-speed manufacturing processes. Knowledge of SAP or similar production and maintenance systems. Experience in pneumatics, hydraulic systems, and mechanical drives. Experience with machine operating in a high-speed, high-volume production environment. Ability to perform both preventive maintenance and reactive maintenance in support of production. Comfort working with multiple operations and areas simultaneously, such as coating lines with several workstations. Work Environment The role is based in a clean manufacturing environment with some areas that are climate controlled, providing a comfortable and orderly workspace. You work on high-speed presses, metal stamping equipment, injection molding machines, packaging lines, fast conveyor systems, pumps, and legacy metals equipment such as Bruderer presses. The position requires a Machine Technician level 3 skill set and involves approximately 85% machine operations and 15% preventive and reactive maintenance tasks. Shifts are structured, with options across first, second, and third shifts, and shift premiums are offered for evening and night schedules. You follow established safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment, including steel-toe footwear, ear protection, eye protection, long pants, and appropriate safety gear, while working in a production environment that values cleanliness, safety, and collaboration.



Experience Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Cleveland, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
