Position Summary We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and creative Sign Fabrication & Installation Technician to support projects throughout Texas. This is a hands-on position combining shop fabrication, field installation, sign maintenance, repairs, and service work. The right candidate must be comfortable traveling frequently, working outdoors, working at heights, using tools and equipment, and adapting to different project conditions. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building things, visiting new locations, solving challenges, and seeing a project progress from drawings and raw materials to a professionally completed installation. Primary Responsibilities
- Fabricate, assemble, install, service, repair, and remove interior and exterior signs.
- Build monument signs, pylon signs, illuminated sign cabinets, channel letters, pole covers, raceways, frames, and custom sign structures.
- Review drawings, measurements, customer requirements, and installation instructions before beginning work.
- Measure, cut, drill, fasten, weld, paint, finish, and assemble sign components.
- Assist with LED installation and low-voltage wiring according to project requirements and applicable supervision.
- Install vinyl graphics and complete sign-finishing work when required.
- Prepare tools, materials, equipment, vehicles, and work areas for each project.
- Load, secure, transport, unload, and protect signs, materials, and equipment.
- Operate or assist with bucket trucks, aerial lifts, scissor lifts, ladders, and other access equipment.
- Perform site surveys and verify field measurements when assigned.
- Identify fabrication and installation challenges and help develop safe, practical solutions.
- Complete quality-control inspections to confirm that signs are accurate, secure, clean, functional, and professionally finished.
- Maintain company tools, vehicles, equipment, and facilities in clean and organized condition.
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors, project managers, coworkers, customers, and jobsite representatives.
- Complete projects within established schedules while maintaining J&A's quality standards.
- Protect company property, customer property, and all materials entrusted to the employee.
- Perform additional fabrication, installation, service, delivery, or shop duties as assigned.
Travel may include:
- Same-day projects and service calls
- Multiple-day installation projects
- Overnight stays
- Early departures
- Occasional weekend work
- Work in cities, rural areas, construction sites, shopping centers, commercial properties, and roadside locations Candidates must be dependable and prepared to represent J&A Signs and Lighting professionally wherever the project is located. For authorized company travel, J&A provides:
- Company-paid hotel accommodations for qualifying overnight projects
- Company vehicle and fuel for authorized business travel
- Meal allowance or per diem for qualifying overnight assignments
- Payment for eligible travel time in accordance with company policy and applicable law Required Qualifications
- At least two years of experience in sign fabrication, sign installation, or a combination of both.
- Experience with construction, welding, electrical work, or a related trade is beneficial.
- Ability to use common hand and power tools, including drills, saws, grinders, rivet guns, and measuring equipment.
- Ability to read measurements and follow drawings, instructions, and project specifications.
- Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, lift, and perform demanding work for extended periods.
- Comfortable working outdoors in Texas heat, cold, wind, and other changing weather conditions.
- Comfortable and capable of working safely at heights using ladders, scaffolding, bucket trucks, and aerial lifts.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to remain organized, focused, and productive without constant supervision.
- Willingness to follow instructions, collaborate with the team, and accept responsibility for assigned work.
- Ability to adapt to changing schedules, project conditions, and customer needs.
- Availability for overtime and overnight travel when required.
- Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Preferred Skills

- Sign-manufacturing and production facilities
- Commercial buildings and active construction sites
- Shopping centers, highways, and roadside locations
- Indoor and outdoor environments
- Elevated work areas using ladders, scaffolding, bucket trucks, and aerial lifts
- Different project locations throughout Texas Employees may report to or work from J&A's operations and production facilities in Mineral Wells or Fort Worth, as well as different field locations, depending on project assignments, production requirements, scheduling, and company needs. Compensation and Benefits
- $24-$30 per hour, based on sign-industry experience, technical capabilities, certifications, driving qualifications, and leadership potential
- Guaranteed full-time schedule
- Overtime paid at time-and-a-half for eligible hours worked over 40 in a workweek
