This position supports manufacturing, construction, shipbuilding, oil and gas, and industrial maintenance operations by ensuring surfaces are properly prepared for coating, painting, or repair. Key Responsibilities
Operate sandblasting and abrasive blasting equipment safely and efficiently.
Prepare surfaces for painting, coating, or restoration by removing old finishes, rust, and debris.
Select appropriate blasting materials and techniques based on project specifications.
Inspect surfaces before and after blasting to ensure quality standards are met.
Set up, maintain, and clean blasting equipment and work areas.
Load and unload materials and components for processing.
Follow job specifications, work orders, and safety requirements.
Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on blasting equipment.
Use measuring and inspection tools to verify surface preparation requirements.
Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with company safety policies.
Document completed work and report equipment issues to supervisors.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous experience in industrial sandblasting, surface preparation, or related industrial work preferred.
Knowledge of abrasive blasting equipment and techniques.
Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and safety instructions.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Needing helper(s) for sandblasting & painting shop.
Must be able to pass a drug test & have a valid drivers license.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and varying environmental conditions.
Must be able to wear respiratory protection and other required PPE for extended periods.
