Job Description

Performs construction, repair, and maintenance work on sewer and water lines; operates equipment and performs extensive manual labor; reads meters; performs related work as required. Maintenance of drainage features including cleaning, repairing, mowing, herbiciding, and installation of new drainage infrastructure.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the general supervision of the Street, Drainage & Sanitation Field Supervisor or on-site supervisor.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
None. Operates a jackhammer, lawn mower, weed eater, power saw, tapping machine, chain saw, hand tools, light trucks, and assists vactor truck. Performs preventative maintenance on tools and equipment. Performs minor painting, plumbing, and maintenance. Cleans and stocks the truck. Loads and unloads various materials; performs yard clean-up and all other duties assigned. Assists in installing and maintaining water and sewer lines. Assists other departments as required. Performs other duties as assigned. Maintenance of City drainage features. Performs after-hours standby duty and serves on rotation of duty phone. Attendance is an essential function of this job. Exhibits the City of Harker Heights' Core Values. High school diploma or GED. Must be able to obtain Texas CDL-B within six (6) months from date of hire. A minimum of six (6) months experience in performing construction work requiring the use of equipment similar to or the same as assigned to this position.
