Job Description
CoolSys is seeking a Journeyman Refrigeration technician to install, start up, and service commercial and industrial refrigeration systems on construction and retrofit projects. In this field-based role, you'll read plans and schematics, fabricate and braze piping, evacuate and charge systems, and diagnose electrical and mechanical issues. You'll perform preventive maintenance, ensure EPA and safety compliance, and deliver reliable, customer-focused service while collaborating with project teams to meet schedules and quality standards. Responsibilities Install and start up commercial and industrial refrigeration systems on construction and retrofit projects Read and interpret plans, blueprints, and piping and wiring schematics Fabricate, braze, and pressure-test refrigeration piping to company and code standards Evacuate, charge, and commission refrigeration systems, verifying proper operation Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and controls issues in HVAC-R systems Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to maximize system reliability and efficiency Ensure compliance with EPA refrigerant regulations, safety procedures, and site rules Document work performed, parts used, and system readings accurately and timely Coordinate with project managers, foremen, and customers to meet schedule and quality expectations Maintain tools, vehicle, and equipment in safe, clean, and reliable condition Required Skills Commercial refrigeration installation Refrigeration system troubleshooting HVAC-R electrical diagnostics Brazing and piping fabrication Reading blueprints and schematics Refrigerant charging and recovery Preventive maintenance Use of refrigeration gauges and tools Controls and EMS familiarity Safety and regulatory compliance
