Systems Testing & Commissioning Technician Full-Time | Onsite | Baton Rouge, LA Our client isn't your typical HVAC installer — they engineer and validate highly specialized environmental control equipment built for the most demanding facilities in the country, including data centers, industrial sites, and other high-consequence environments where failure is not an option. We're seeking an experienced Systems Testing & Commissioning Technician with a passion for troubleshooting, diagnostics, and solving complex mechanical and electrical challenges. This role is ideal for a seasoned commercial or industrial HVAC professional who enjoys figuring out how systems operate, ensuring they perform to specification, and helping develop the next generation of technicians. What You'll Do Test and commission custom-built HVAC equipment prior to shipment Diagnose and troubleshoot refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, and control system issues Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and refrigeration prints Verify equipment performance and ensure units meet quality and customer specifications Troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems and variable frequency drives (VFDs) when applicable Partner with engineering and production teams to resolve technical issues Document testing results accurately using computer-based systems Support process improvement and continuous quality initiatives Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior testing technicians as needed Travel occasionally to support field testing or customer needs when required What We're Looking For Required Qualifications 5+ years of commercial or industrial HVAC experience Strong understanding of refrigeration systems, including superheat and subcooling Ability to diagnose complex refrigeration system issues Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics Understanding of three-phase electrical power Working knowledge of low-voltage controls Basic computer proficiency Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Strong communication skills and attention to detail Preferred Qualifications Experience with PLC-controlled equipment Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) Previous supervisory or lead technician experience Experience performing start-up or commissioning of commercial HVAC equipment Ability to travel occasionally EPA Universal Certification preferred Ideal Background Candidates from the following industries or company types often possess the experience we're looking for: Commercial Chiller Technicians Industrial HVAC Service Technicians Mission-Critical HVAC Service Offshore HVAC Technicians (5+ years preferred) Commercial Controls and Mechanical Contractors Benefits & Perks Competitive compensation Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance Company-paid Life Insurance 401(k) with Company Match Paid Time Off Paid Holidays Career Growth Opportunities Ongoing Training & Development Team-Oriented Culture Stable, Growing Company with Opportunities for Advancement Why This Opportunity You'll work on highly engineered HVAC systems that protect critical infrastructure.
