Refrigeration Installer / Technician

WHAT DOES THIS JOB ENTAIL?

Applicant will be working within the refrigeration department to prep condensing units and evaporator coils to be installed into the cabinet. The position will initially be working at a bench to prep the units while learning more about our products and how to install the prepped units onto the cabinets. Onsite training is available, though refrigeration experience is extremely beneficial.

REFRIGERATION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

 Inspect, test, and measure completed work, using devices such as hand tools or gauges to verify conformance to standards or repair requirements.  Perform skilled repair or maintenance operations, using equipment such as hand or power tools, hydraulic presses or shears, or brazing equipment.  Interpret specifications, blueprints, or job orders to construct templates and lay out reference points for workers.

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE

 Ensure the quality of Cospolich equipment as well as efficiency and profitability.  Consider new products as well as methods and component improvements to redesign and evolve mature products.

SKILLS AND FUNCTIONS

 Fabricate and assemble structural and functional components of refrigeration system, using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.  Lift and align components into position, using hoist or block and tackle.  Drill holes and install mounting brackets and hangers into floor and walls of building. Braze or solder parts to repair defective joints and leaks.  Observe and test system operation, using gauges and instruments  Test lines, components, and connections for leaks.  Dismantle malfunctioning systems and test components, using electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic testing equipment.  Adjust or replace worn or defective mechanisms and parts, and reassemble repaired systems.  Read blueprints to determine location, size, capacity, and type of components needed to build refrigeration system.  Supervise and instruct assistants.  Install wiring to connect components to an electric power source.  Perform mechanical overhauls and refrigerant reclaiming.  Cut, bend, thread, and connect pipe to functional components and water, power, or refrigeration system.  Adjust valves according to specifications and charge system with proper type of refrigerant by pumping the specified gas or fluid into the sys- tem.  Estimate, order, pick up, deliver, and install materials and supplies needed to maintain equipment in good working condition.  Install expansion and control valves, using acetylene torches and wrenches.  Mount compressor, condenser, and other components in specified locations on frames, using hand tools and acetylene welding equipment.  Keep records of repairs and replacements made and causes of malfunctions.  Lay out reference points for installation of structural and functional components, using measuring instruments.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 Work is performed while standing, sitting and /or walking.  Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, color vision and hearing.  Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.  Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.  Required to exert physical effort, e.g., transporting materials or equipment or lifting, moving, carrying object equal to or less than 75 pounds.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
